Title: The Northern Lights Buck
Post by: pickardjw on November 21, 2023, 05:35:54 PM: Went to Montana for the first time with a few buddies last week. My hunting partner for the trip shot a nice, wide 3x4 on our first day at sundown, his first deer. We packed him out and noticed what looked like light pollution on the horizon. Strange for the middle of nowhere Montana. Sure enough, it was the Northern Lights. A long exposure was needed to really capture them, but one of the guys is pretty talented with the DSLR.

Anyways, here's a couple photos. Definitely getting some prints of these! In all likelihood some OIL photos.

Post by: bigmacc on November 21, 2023, 07:11:27 PM: Absolutely amazing! Myself and some pards ran into them once in the Methow. 50 years or so ago. Those lights and those memories will never be forgotten. Not many get to experience them. Those pictures are absolutely amazing!!!!

Post by: boneaddict on January 09, 2024, 11:56:04 AM: I took your idea and ran with it. I had a pretty decent aurora shot and a pretty decent silhouette and combined the two. I do almost zero photoshopping other than cropping and resizing and some white balance, but it was a fun project. The fact you were able to do the real deal is pretty awesome! Good luck on the contest. I'm not a member, but still went to check it out. There is some good competition.
