I went out today and looked Long Lake over. It was pitiful...I believe I saw 6 geese and a few ducks. Now this is where it's safe to shoot not where the Little Spokane comes in. That place has the usual locals and lots of coots.
If you are having any luck at all please tell us so we can hope there will be a good water fowl season. Plus post some success pictures for this season on the sticky in this section.
thanks,
Sisu

Interesting. The report was from yesterday but it was only a single report for the area. The guy is also on a lease land.

Friday 23 November:
On the Pend Oreille River flights of ducks and geese moving south. The guys I talked to got some birds but could not get the big flocks to set down.
Potholes saw a few big flocks of ducks and geese but nothing spectacular. We did a lot of shooting together we shot 4 mallard hens, 6 drakes and one pintail hen, but that was hunting from dawn to dusk. And again like the other guys we could not get the big flocks in but did all our shooting on singles, doubles and a few as big as 4 or 5.

The Spokane/Lincoln County line southwest of Cheney has all the scabland ponds frozen up. Very few ducks and only a small band of Ca Honkers todays

Seaducks are showing up on the coast. I shot 2 real nice drake Old Squaws and my buddies shot some scoters and A nice Harlequin. We got some very nice mounters today.

Hit the ponds at fishtrap. I brought a 10lbs Hammer and a Maul and broke a lot of ice. 4.5 hours and did not see or hear a single duck, everything turned out okay as I shot 3 pheasants on the walk back to the truck.

Spent the holiday at Longbeach, Willapa Bay and all sloughs nearby were full of ducks. Full. Aslo saw two nice sized herds of Elk on the way home this afternoon.

Damn it didn't take long for them to freeze over. Glad to see you got some birds even though no ducks. Do you ever hunt the lake itself?

Hunted the Columbia Basin around Moses Lake and the mallards were working pretty well. My group, dad and a few cousins, ended the weekend with about 45 mallards and a few honkers for three days of hunting in the morning till about noon, hunted mostly private land, but also the potholes. We also got a couple bonuses two bands so it was not a bad weekend overall.

I have hunted fishtrap lake proper a couple of times on the very far (west) end of the lake, and never had much luck besides a couple of hit and miss teal. It ices up as well, it has not yet but a few years back 3/4 of the lake was frozen at christmas
