Title: Gratitude From A Novice Bear Hunter
Post by: okie john on January 06, 2024, 11:34:00 AM
Got skunked last year but not due to lack of information. This forum was extremely helpful, and several posters went out of their way to answer my newbie questions and provide guidance. Between the forum and getting out into the field, I learned a lot and I feel way better about my prospects for next season.

As I sit here planning how I'll scout in 2024, I want to thank everyone who posted here, answered a question, shared their experience, laid out an opinion, told a story, and/or made a wiseass remark. I especially want to thank everyone who posted a pic of a downed bear—I learned a lot from looking at the background, vegetation, etc.

Thanks again to everyone, and good hunting.

I would do my scouting in August with a tag in pocket. Put on a lot of miles with a predator call in hand. If you find good Sign start making sets. If you jump something start whaling on the call. Once you find where they live if calling doesn’t work you can start thinking more about doing sits watching food or something.
