Late season tag?
😉

Late, late, late season… oh wait, that was a year round season tag.
-
I'd shoot one if they'd let me...

You should go to a knitting night, bowling league, pick up books to read, or find something productive to do besides harass the Whitefoot family and the Wheelers.
With that being said I’m done with this site.

Here’s a better pic, ignore the other buck in the background. What a deer!!

Why are you always trying to stir the pot anytime a native kills a respectable animal? They can, so they do....stop creating a bunch of hate and discontent. :bash:
-
It’s a shame everyone turns a blind eye to the issue that we have on this side of the mountains. The mule deer herd are hurting as is and they are out shooting multiple bucks.

Better than does. Ratios are not the issue over there.

no kidding! The worst part, behind the curtain, most these guys agree! They just choose to pucker up in stead. Like it will benefit hunting in the end.

You’re more than welcome to come over and we can take a drive for a day. The deer herds are struggling as a whole over here.

I don't think its turning a blind eye as there is nothing we can do to change the tribes hunting this late due to their treaty rights. Unless the tribes decide to shut these guys down, there is nothing that posting chit like this is going to change.
It's clear that trophyhunt's only intention was to get on here and fire everyone up because he's upset his beloved Huskies just lost. Getting on public forum and posting stuff to shame or harass them just makes ALL hunters look bad. We need to remember there are a lot of lurkers on this site that are antis, so how does this thread help at all?

Agreed, the state of the herds is dire. WDFW only manages for predators, so we need to figure out how to get the natives on the same page as us. Eventually there will be nothing left for any of us to hunt if something doesn't change soon.
-
Unfortunately maybe if the anti’s are on here maybe they will sink there teeth into the tribal hunting issue.

Very aware, also aware of what started a decline after the hound ban. Not when tribes started hunting. Hopefully it will turn a corner for the good. Your villain is not the tribe it's predators. Trophy bucks and bulls are, in the end, bucks and bulls. The trophy quality is a result of management. Ratios are not what's struggling, it's population so it discounts your herd arguments.
-
Theres actually three bucks in the pic obviously recent kills with hide on the heads.. Washington mule deer herds are in the tank and the units that used to produce trophy bucks when a guy could draw a tag after 20 plus years of applying are also a bust and this shows a big part of the reason/problem. Sure its legal and a "Right" but its still a problem everyone has to side step around to not be called a racist.....I see no problem with the post I thought this site was to share info ....
-
Why do folks get all mad at some for posting a pic or talking about a native killing a trophy at a odd time of year? The dude wouldn’t have posted it if he didn’t want folks knowing. Of course we’re gonna chat about it. One common theme I’ve always notice with theses trophy bucks and bulls, is a pickup in the background? They huntin around dealerships? :chuckle:
-
It's perplexing to me that folks will lament tribal harvest - and make statements or implications that we need to stop tribes from harvesting deer - to save the herds. Yet I never see those same folks call for curtailing harvest if it's a post or pic of a trophy buck/bull from a special permit, auction/raffle tag, general season tag or any of the other 20,000 deer killed by non-tribal hunters in this state. :dunno:

Dang your right...maybe I can explain. It’s because special permit, auction/raffle and general tag holders aren’t displaying pickup loads of trophy animals. Your clearly trying to spin this....it ain’t workin. :dunno:

your argument really doesn’t work. When my cousin killed his ram 10-12 years ago we talked to the biologist about tribal vs state harvest. It was crazy the numbers. Just the Muck harvest matched the state harvest for deer in the Yakima units. Mainly in the chinook pass area. They also had as many or a couple more tags for sheep even then state hunters.
-
Despite all the drama.
Heck of a buck. Looks like a dandy.
When are they gonna take me hunting. :chuckle:
-
Come on Jerry. We all know your opinion. Most of us feel the same way. There isn’t shat we can do about it. Muddying the water doesn’t solve anything.

They have their rights, of which there is nothing we can do about it. The issue is that there are a few who abuse the "right" and take more trophy animals than they "morally" should. If it is about sustenance they should be taking the nice tender and tasty does, not taking out the mature buck populations. I realize that non-natives poach also, but they don't glamorize it on social media and they don't sell elk and deer jerky and smoked salmon.....Profiting off the harvest is not "ceremonial" or "sustenance" to me.....
The other issue I have is the uncooperativeness of the tribes. Even though I don't think our WDFW does a very bang up job at taking care of the animals, they don't get the harvest data from the tribes (from what I understand). How can any state have a conservation model with no idea of the harvest numbers from a subset of the hunting and fishing population?
-

That could be some of it, but if it were just jealousy, then I'd expect the same reaction when non-tribal members post harvest pics.
The hypocrisy is odd.
Tribal harvest shown... :yike: OMG...the herds are dying, this needs to stop.
Non-tribal harvest...nice animal, congrats.
If the folks freaking out over tribal harvest want to be serious, I'd like to see their proposals to cut non-tribal harvest 'to save the herds'.
-
Who says they're not using the meat from a trophy buck? Do you discard the meat from a trophy buck or bull? I hope not. Also, it is imperative to take mature bucks to ensure a varied gene pool. The tendency to jump on any tribal kill without background or personal knowledge of a problem is contrary to our hunting heritage and overall ethics. Are there wasteful hunters? Yes and a lot of them aren't tribal. We have enough attacks from non and anti-hunters without turning on ourselves. And the biggest problems we presently have in game management require that we stick together to face them.

To be fair idahohuntr, the non tribal special tags in the Yakima area has really dropped the last five years. One unit alone went from almost 60 special archery tags to single digits. That is a big reduction to "save the herds".
With that said and from my experience, there should be more tags offered in the Yakima area, the herds are doing alot better than WDFW think.

Was this buck shot on the reservation? The Facebook post is confusing to me.
Anyone know where this buck or the others in the photo were shot?
Were they shot on the reservation?
Were they shot in an area closed to non native harvest.
Were they shot in one of the special permit areas? If so would it have been better for them to roll up on December 5th during the special permit archery season and start blasting bucks?

Your asking questions that won't get answered. BUT i do believe the questions you are asking are good for everyone to see, especially the last one. I have had buddies with late season archery tags impacted by native harvest with rifles. They weren't wearing orange because of archery season and the shots were going right over there head..... Not a good situation.

You do realize that a lot of poachers get caught precisely because they are glamorizing it on social media? Look at the 2 corrections officers in California. Caught poaching multiple trophy bucks and got a very slight slap on the wrist because they worked with the prosecuting office. The herd is struggling but you would prefer they take does??? What kind of logic is that?

Exactly if this happened on the reservation should we really be complaining?
If this happened in an area that is open to special permits for non natives in December would everyone prefer they did it then during your hunt?
I’m just not sure what will make hunters happy.

I find it comical that some members on here think getting along with, kissing butt or supporting the tribal hunts will actually help us all. Do you really think the tribes give two chits what we think, at all?? You think if we all come together in a big group hug that they will all a sudden, give themselves limits, and cooperate with WDFW and give harvest numbers? And I’m the one who being called stupid…
If these deer were shot on the real reservation, keep in mind, the natives idea of reservation land and actual reservation land may vary by a lot! Then I wouldn’t give a rats azz, wipe out the Rez for all I care. But like someone said above, our permit numbers are dropping like rocks and going away, quality is crap anymore on some of our favorite units. It’s a chit sandwich, but I guess one thing you may get by kissing butt is a hunt w them. I don’t think I’ll get invited soon 😁

What’s the point of these posts? To show how jealous you are? What are you hoping to gain or prove with these? How is this helping anything at all?? If you spent half as much as time lobbying wdfw and actually working towards helping deer herds and conservation as you do trolling Facebook for native pics then you might actually accomplish something positive for hunters. This is just another whining and complaining post.

TH, I'm not trying to kiss anyone's butt. IMO, people need to realize that focusing on tribal harvests in a negative way is a distraction from the real and much larger issues at hand that are threats to our heritage here in WA. The antis love this petty squabbling. All they have to do is sit back and watch us self-destruct without raising a finger.

I just don’t see it that way, I think people are giving too much credit to the tribes actually caring how we feel about them. I guarantee they don’t give a crap, the Anti’s are gonna do what they do either way. You have no clue, I receive most my info from PM’s or texts from fellow members who know I won’t shy away from posting them. One reason to post these pics that the tribal guys already post themselves, its called “awareness”. Not everyone knows what goes on, not everyone knows the yakamas have zero limits believe it or not. As a group it’s been said muddying the waters is really hurting us , we are not gaining if you’re all paying attention. There are groups of natives doing a lot of good things too , I think jealousy hits the nail on the head with this post and many others. Look how many members have left site or don’t share any more it’s because it’s turned into a fit on every post instead of lifting each other up

Also, why do people who find these posts so abrasive, keep reading them? It’s easy to block people, hell, I’ve had one of our lefty wing nuts blocked now for months, life is good!

They turn into an embarrassment for hunters and this site. It’s the same *censored* over and over again even though you said yourself we can do nothing. Your childish arguing on Facebook does the same. This is a picnic for anti’s and you keep giving them snacks. If these don’t help why post them?

I beg to differ. We have several HuntWA tribal members who are hunting partners and are as concerned about what's happening in this state as we. You may not like the rights that Congress and the President signed over to them. But putting all tribal members in one convenient basket just doesn't work.

There will be plenty more to post! And that “Jealous” comment is getting as old and holds as much water now as calling someone a racist.. blah blah blah.
You were crying racism on Facebook for whitefoot saying he helps his people haha simmer down

My point was I don't segregate people when it comes to helping, I don't care what color you are. You simmer down

We have ZERO impact on tribal hunting, that is why they have ZERO interest of being hunting partners, they will just laugh harder if we lose our rights, their rights are set in stone.

I've said it many times on here over the years, I'm well aware that not all tribal members or tribes are bad. I've given plenty of props to the colville and muckleshoot tribe, and even they have bad apples. There may be some tribal guys on here that say they are concerned, but when push come to shove, you think they'd put their rights on the chopping block if it meant any help for us? Be honest. I'm sure some absolutely care about management, and some, not so much.

It's not racist? If I said I was only out to help white people, is that cool... My parents give me advice, don't need yours.
