I'll start here.
Everytime I've filed a petition it nevers seen the commission, not sure if I'm doing it right or what.
I would like to start a petition to restore woodland caribou to NE Washington in the name of biodiversity funds that was just given to WDFW.
With any means necessary, stop depredations, habitat restoration, pen enclosure, caribou farm if they have to.
Anyway possible.
WE NEED BRAIN STORMING.
These funds will be pissed to the wind.
We need biodiversity projects that will burn up some of this money and do some good. They will burn every dime on predators and ending hunting. Habitat restoration,Buying more land,is a direction we need to go. ANY IDEAS?
Let's Go! Brainstorm a way.
Basically I feel many conservation groups and commission members feel they have been handed a blank check of tax payers money. To fund projects that create donations to these conservation groups. Which is great and all
BUT.....
I'd like to brainstorm some projects that may help many species, help sportsmen, force them to use some of the funding for projects, habitat, and whatever that doesn't necessarily line conservation groups pockets, yet are equally important.
All in the name of "BIODIVERSITY".
We have to stop playing defense, and pass the ball.
Use it to our advantage, this big money.
Art of war,you can't beat them, you join them, become there leader.
If you have money to burn, let's burn it.
When they change the conservation policy,it will require them to restore woodland caribou. Any money going to ungulates is better than predator,my opinion.
-
100% on board. Woodland caribou restoration will in theory require some extensive predatory management, one would think

Yup, depredations was a major cause for extinction and habitat loss.

Also another idea .
Under the new conservation policy.
No more spraying herbicides by timber company.
Killing of plant growth, "Biodiversity" of plant growth for a balanced ecosystem.
Every species, plant or otherwise, rare or common.
WDFW to match every tree planted, with another tree to combat loss of herbicides.
No lack of research on how bad herbicides are for the environment.
I could see them spending 21 million on trees alone.
Basically these new policies, funding, all that is gonna get whacked.
-
Another idea.
Climate change..blah...blah...
Fuel reduction on all WDFW lands .
All WDFW lands will be considered for fuel reduction,on the basis of plant, and animal diversity, with climate change.
This creates jobs.
-
I can't come up with every idea .
But HW Gets the point I'm trying to put across the table.
Faster we burn this money, better off we will be.
You fight fire,with fire.
Right after this conservation policy passes .
We should be pounding the commission with petition to spend this diversity money.
That's all I'm saying.
Projects such as woodland caribou, they vote no,that's just bad PR.
Enough bad PR ,funding goes away.
Changing policy to fit your own personal, political, donations conservation groups agenda, may just backfire, turn out as a win for sportsmen.

This isn't a valid WDFW Commission petition. Petitions are solely regulatory in nature (seasons, limits, areas, etc.)

Bigtex, could he petition the legislature for a house bill or law? I think he has some good ideas, just need a compass for direction?
-
Fishermen and Hunters need to care about biodiversity. Organizations like “the center for biological diversity” do not. They promote animals that sell, like wolves, lions, bears and seals.

Well that sucks.
Just trying to think outside the box.
Any ideas on seasons, limits, areas, that can help sportsmen and "biodiversity"
I know it asking a lot.
Seems like someone would be in charge of these diversity funds.
Or some kind of accountability.
I'll have to dig on the Internet.
Most likely already spent.
Ya I see it is spent, considered that they only got a fraction of what they asked for.
