Looking for someone to possibly apply with/strategize on controlled hunts in Idaho my usual hunting partners aren’t as committed.

what units?

what units?
what ever odds are attainable/realistic

with no points and a 10% cap on NR tags nothing is really very easy to draw and lots of luck. Last 10 years tags have probably doubled in odds to draw

Not to burst your bubble but I have applied for idaho controlled hunts for 30 years and have never drawn. Hope you have better luck than me

I've drawn two bull permits and one either sex tag in the last four years. They may not have been the elite units but I had a great time each year and had my pick of elk. You can't go if you don't apply.

I’ve drawn 8 deer tags and 1 bull tag in 20 years. Some pretty good ones at that.

Luck has the most to do with it.

Drew my second time putting in for unit 18 for elk, Idaho likes me a whole lot more than WA.

Is there any restrictions on putting in for controlled elk if you already have a general unit elk tag?

no but you can only hold a controlled hunt tag as a first tag so you would have to relinquish your general tag in order to claim your controlled hunt tag.
