Well, now all we can do is sit and wait for months to see if our Wyoming elk tag selections will pay the dividends!!! Good luck to all that applied and may the odds be in your favor!!!!
-
Gonna be an interesting year for draw odds with the $2k special tags :twocents:
-
:yeah: I do not have high hopes for my poor person "regular priced" apps :chuckle:
-
With a lot of luck, I will be walking around with a bow chasing elk there this fall.
-
My Wyoming wait is pretty long with it just being another point purchase year. I really need to start cashing them in now that I am up in double digit points. I don't really care about anything close to a premier unit, I just want to hunt. Good luck gents
-
I got the general last year so I'm just a point purchaser this year, good luck everyone. Kind of miss the anxiety :chuckle:
-
I’m all out of points! Good luck to the rest of you!
-
I put in for a Reduced Price Cow/Calf permit last week figuring on sitting out the full price with 4 points and then last night with 10 minutes left before deadline I launched a hail-mary and put in for a Full Priced General tag as well. Good luck to all!
-
I am going pts only this year, planning a wilderness guided hunt next year sitting on 15 points

The odds in the random draw are not to bad! Way better than any quality or bull tag in this state. one in thirteen odds isn't that bad for a swing at a tag!

I figured I could draw a decent tag this year for sure with my 13 points but I opted for something different. Just got access to 17,000 plus acres of private in an area that takes 6-7 points to draw the LE bull tag in the southwest corner of the state. So my decision was to choose a area that is out of my chances of drawing for my first choice this year and my second choice is a -4 full price cow tag in the area I have access to hunt. Being it is my second choice it wont cost me my points. Also the three of us put in for the reduced price cow tag in the area also. Will hunt it next year for cows and see if it is worth burning my 14 points the following year for a bull. It is a later hunt that lasts 2.5 months and is targeting elk from Utah that come into Wyoming to winter. Should be interesting. Rancher says the elk are driving him batty! I just dont want to burn my points until I see what the ranch has to offer and the quality of the bulls. I have a mid 70's % chance of drawing the cow tag in the regular as a second choice this year and a 40% chance drawing the Reduced price cow tag if the data holds from last year. All three of us put in seperate applications in hope that we at least draw a few cow tags and can make the trip. 6 tags would be great but I would be happy with 2-3 of them between the three of us for our recon year.

I'm just going long odds again this year with 13 points. You never know, I drew 2 tags with worse odds last year. Good luck everyone.
-
Have a mountain lion hunt booked already for this year. So will put in for points only this year. Will be interesting to see how the odds are. Still have max points for deer and elk.
-
Wish I had the cash to pony up for the special this year. in the regular looking for a random tag
-
Points for me. Good Luck
-
It will be interesting to see if the special draw random has better odds this year due to price increase chasing folks away.

Indeed. I’m speculating there will be more people putting in for special than people think. A lot of guys don’t mind the extra cost if they think there odds are better for shaving off a few years of waiting. I wouldn’t be shocked if a higher percentage put in for special.

Wife and I are in with 4 points for general. We will see
-
Just points for me. Late start in life, will only be up to 5 points this year.
-
A buddy and I are in for elk with a 6 point average. Never been there for elk. Looking at a new never been to before area. Pretty excited!
-
Moose, bison, and sheep draw tomorrow. I’m in for moose with 21 pts in unit 5. Probably won’t draw!
-
Will their results come out on the 16th like they said?
-
Wyoming is usually pretty good about getting results out.

They are always out on the day they post. Sometimes even a day or two early.
-
Wyoming elk results will be out tomorrow morning! May the odds be ever in your favor!!! Good luck! Let us know how you faired tomorrow.

Wife and I drew elk general
-
I had zero points so ponied up for the special. It didn’t get it done. No cigar.
-
Successful
-
No tag for me, as expected.
-
General elk for my buddy and I. Average was 6 points for us. First time, can’t wait!
-
I had zero points after drawing last year and just moved and won’t have the time to hunt this fall so I didn’t put in and figured on buying a point.
Regretting not at least trying now, sure I could have made it work one way or another. Congrats to all the winners and good luck to those who haven’t checked yet.
-
I didn’t put in either since a trip to Italy in June is planned, now seeing results makes me wish I tried. Next year should have 4 or 5 for a general elk tag.
-
Going back to Wyoming for a cow hunt. Hope it turns out better than last year. New area to explore.
-
No elk tags for us this year :'(
-
I drew a west general in the special.

Struck out on both the West General with 4 points and also a normally easy cow/calf draw. :bash:

Got just what I planned on getting and hoped for. I put the three of us in for the regular draw in units that were out of our reach with our 13 points. I then put us in for cow permits outside of Evanston where I hunt deer on my buddies ranch. Season runs from Aug 15-Jan 31. I have access to around 16,000 private acres there and the elk come in from Utah in late November and winter on his ranch. I wasn't willing to blow my 13 points on a bull tag this year there (It would have been a guaranteed draw) until I get the intel from the cow hunt we will be doing this late fall. I want to see size and quality of the bulls and how broken up they are in November thru January. The limited entry bull hunt there goes from late November thru the Jan 31. Will be fun seeing what we find and what are intel turns up. My buddy that owns the ranch is getting his range and hay eaten badly by all of the wintering elk. so we shall see!
