Ok, who drew a 2009 MOOSE TAG :dunno:
-
Well my son did!!! :chuckle: But first I would like to say what an awesome site. I have been lurking in the shadows for sometime waiting to have something good to write about. Now that I have that he drew a hangman any moose tag. I see from earlier post that it looks like alot of private land but we are ready to do the homework, scouting trips and whatever it takes. But i still have to ask the question " does anyone have any helpful tips on this unit?"
-
If you have access to a quad, you can get the permit to enter the Inland Empire Paper Co. on Mica Peak and there are lots of moose up there from what I seen last year, we had a cow tag and filled it on the first day (time constraints) so we only hunted a small portion of the area but seen lots of moose and one HUGE whitetail !!!

Wife drew Hangman B. That is where I took my bull in 2001. Anyone know if you need a permit for access up there? I heard a few years after, they ended up charging for access. Feel free to PM if you need info on that unit.

You gotta hunt the rut. It's EZ to learn to call. Use bull grunts, they love to fight. They come in better then elk. It's like they always come in to take a look. I made 3 grunts and mine came in tearring up the country. I got some video's last year to learn to call. The reason you use bull grunts is first they will come in, second, I had a bull coming in like a dog on a rope one morning. So, I thought I'd rev him up with a cow call. All that did was piss off his cow and she started whining and turned him around. I called him in the next morning, he showed himself across this meadow a 300 yds. I didn't call anymore because he wasn't big enough for me. But he had me pin pointed and came with in 30 yds of before I got outta there.

Ya I'm sure the rut is awesome. What an experience hu? If we do go at that time of year i'll definatley get a couple of videos on calling moose. Thanks for the info guys and congrats on the draws everyone :brew:

Congrats on the Moose tags!!

We should see at least 20 new guys on here shortly. I don't have a clue what the unit is like can you tell me where to go. LOL All the while we all have a bit of tag envy, ;)
-
Yep, or buddies of buddies drew LOL
-
Members with moose tags seem way down, but you never know, we will probably get a bunch of newbies looking for info.
-
I found out about this site after I drew last year from a buddy. He said there were guys on here talking about Washington moose.
-
I found out about this site after a member called me before last years season. He drew a west side elk tag, the same one in which I drew in 05. So I have been in the shadows since kinda waiting to have something good to post.
-
Congrats to all the 09 moose tag winners, you are in for a great time, I can't wait to read all the stories and pics. :brew:
-
I also drew the Selkirk tag. You always hope to see you've drawn something, but never expect to draw anything, and to pull a moose tag out of it all. WOW!!!! There will be no shortage of road trips this summer I can see.
-
The tag my younger sister drew was Mt. Spokane A. It's going to be a great time.
-
I drew Selkirk Mtns Moose for 2009.
Hey man... congratulations, that's great!!!

I was poking around up there last night. Didn't see any moose, but saw one real fresh set of tracks. It had just rained, so I probably missed him by an hour or less.

Sounds like a fair amount of Moose tags on the site again this year. Can't wait to read all the stories.
