Title: west klickitat tag info.
Post by: logger on June 12, 2009, 08:38:24 PM: I drew a klickitat tag 3pt. or better from dec.1-8, and was wondering what you guys think I should expect. I am working there now between troutlake and glennwood but come dec. i think you would have to be riding babe the blue ox to access where I am now. this is a muzzleloader tag so I am fairly confident that I will atleast have some decent oppurtunity.

Post by: Red Dawg on June 12, 2009, 08:57:47 PM: the rattlesnake area is a great area to hunt. Couple miles up the rd from underwood. I will have to look at a map to tell you where we hunted but I know if I was a better shot with the old 58 cal that I was shooting I had a chance a two different 4 points that where way better than average size. It used to be a late general tag. I suppose they took that away also.

Post by: fishunt247 on June 14, 2009, 02:10:58 PM: Like Red Dawg said, they take some really good bucks in the Rattlesnake Drainage. A few other spots to consider...Dead Canyon, Beeks Canyon and the breaks of the Klickitat, Major Canyon, and Catherine Creek.

I hunted that unit religiously with a smoke pole since I started hunting. Without snow, its awfully tough, like it was last year. In the entire first week of hunting on dried cornflakes I saw one small buck, and that was it.

It has been a tough last few seasons for me, as the last buck I killed in that unit was in 2005. But I've always had cracks at them.

Hi Logger,
I drew the elk tag for that unit, can you tell me which logging company owns or leases in that area so I can ask for permission during my Archery season Oct 11 - 22.

My tag is for the Klickitat Meadows Unit Elk Area 3068. I did talk to Shawn Montee office in Post Falls ID and she told me they sold the property but she does not know to who. Any help or info you may have is greatly appreciated.
