There's 1500 more WT tags in the plan, they just have to sell the OTC ones first. More sales to come later

not really how it works. There is a quota in each unit, so although there may be 1500 whitetail tags available on paper, They are not truly available. If the unit you desire is at max quota, then they wont sell a whitetail tag for that unit. Its a trick of wording when they say 1500 extra whitetail tags. It used to be a real 1500 tags would be released and you could hunt where you wanted with it. But after the quota and unit specific change, its not really 1500 whitetail tags anymore. The only hope for a tag now is to get one on a returned tag sale, there will not be a big release of tags, it will be a smaller number each time likely due to less refund to the person returning tags.

The “1500 whitetail tags” were included in the 3/21 sale.

There are deer tags available right now(over 200), ya don't have to wait on the next sale if the unit ya want's there.... Most of us that have hunted there know there is a quota.

What tag were you after?

Was trying for the same deer tag I had last year. On Dec 1, I got number 14k, but then had to take a work call and missed my number coming up, and had to rejoin at number 64k.

A few more sales left, good luck. Most of the northern units will pop up again for sure, it's just a matter of how many tags.
I'm passing on Idaho this year unless I get a monster on cam

How does a person find out what units are available? It shows there are 428 reserved whitetail tags but I can't find which units... I already have a whitetail tag for this year but a buddy might be interested in getting one.

Here, or if he logs in to buy, it will show him what’s available. I don’t think this page is updated in real time.
