Am I reading that most units are open until April 30?

Yes very few closed at this point.

I heard a rumor and I don’t think this should be true but I heard that any cougars taken after March 31st count towards the next years quota.

That seems odd. Since they didn’t meet the quota anything harvested up until April 30th should be counting against last years quota.

The way it's written is your license and tag expire at the end of march. So you will use your 2024-2025 tag and hunting license to hunt in April 2024. However, I don't believe it counts towards next years quotas because they can still close those GMUs down when the quota is met.
