I have a buck on camera already growing.
Maybe a future spike
-
Antler pedicles, (antler base), not new antler growth is what I see in poor quality photo.
-
Doesn’t usually take long from shed to regrowth. Some bucks in my areas will be close to several inches by now.
-
Same shape here, maybe 1/2 inch more, thanks, post them up!!!!

Yepp they are starting already! Have a small Batchelor group showing up at my place.

I thought this was a strange picture I got on a water tank. Picture is about 5 weeks old. One buck has both antlers, another has just one, and the other has already lost both antlers and growing this years set. Just shows you that each deer is a little different than the other when it comes to dropping antlers and growing new ones.

Another picture

Oh dang. Guess it’s time to start packing in salt and cameras!

Saw a 3x4 in Suncadia last week that was still packing.

Side note…
Does plain salt help antlers grow?
Or do blacktail get enough naturally?

I’ve never heard of plain salt helping with horn growth, but it does work as an attractant. Trace mineral salt will help with growth and work as an attractant

Huge calcium, phosphorous and protein draw, a bunch of small amount stuff and fast growth makes spring important. Check the value of the new growth stuff they eat, it is high. A balanced vit/min mix could fill holes and make a little difference. Think of the does too. That belly full of fawns grows like crazy. Keep them coming!!!!
