2014 Supercrew. Last week after locking my truck with factory key fob I couldn’t use the fob to unlock the truck. Put a new battery in the fob and all good. Then days later the same thing happened. Hmm. So I dig out my spare fob. Same thing. Works as it should then today I had the exact same thing happen while using the second fob. WTH? Has to be something in the truck. Anyone else had similar issues?

Same happened to my 2001 F250. Looks to be the electronic switch inside the door. You Tubes out there. Have not done mine yet.
Weird they go out at same time though.

grabbed the spare fob last night to open my 2016 f150 and it was dead... now i'm worried about a conspiracy.

both of my 2009s are still working

So it locks but won't unlock?

Correct. Spun the YouTube banter. Mostly pre ‘09 or 2018ish. Been laying down sod today with my son in steady rain so haven’t put truck in shop to jack around with it. Right now it’s cocktail hour.

So new battery in the 1st fob and it works fine now? 2nd fob, new battery and it works fine now too? I’m going with bad batteries. All the doors don’t unlock or just the driver door?

Neither fob unlocks truck. Fob # 1 has a fresh battery. Fob # 2 is backup. Doesn’t unlock either. All doors remain locked. Can unlock drivers door manually to gain entry but it's a race to get in and get truck started before alarm would go off. Has to be the truck instead of fobs in my mind.

Do the power locks work normally from inside the truck?

Yes

Yes
Based on that, I would suggest a couple new FOB cases. I was amazed the difference just that made for me.

I’m with this guy. You just need a couple new fobs.

It just seems extremely odd that after all this time both fully functioning fobs give up the ghost within a few days of each other?

If you had an issue with the locks themselves, they wouldnt work from in the truck.
-
When’s the last time you had a new truck battery ?

Yes, My inside locks do not work also.

Different problem then. You gotta figure out why none of your power locks work. That’s not a problem with your remotes.

Think we’re now talking different posters? My door locks work on my truck. Looked at ordering a new set of fobs but I want to confirm a locksmith who will cut the keys.

I was responding to Puyallup Paul’s comment in that post.
Any locksmith worth their salt can cut the key. You need to make sure they can program it. The truck will have to be programmed to recognize the keys. Where are you located ? I’m

Well I figured it out this morning. Replayed what happened in my mind and if I had reread my post I would’ve figured it out days ago.
Fob # 1 (my daily one) stopped working. Replaced battery. Worked… for a minute.
Dig out spare fob. It worked about as long. Doors lock and unlock manually from door panel which some of you mentioned that it’s not the truck.
So… hmm. Wait. What if I put that new battery into my backup fob? Guess what? Works like a champ. Obviously my trusty main fob which is now ten years old is bad. So now it’s my hide a key as it still manually unlocks and starts truck. Sometimes a guy just needs to step back and reboot his thoughts. Another life lesson.
As a side note my local hardware store which has a key kiosk will not cut fob blanks. Local locksmith will only sell them. Off brand fob starts at $70.00 with programming included. Ford fob is $240.00 each. For now I’ll roll with what I have. Thanks to all who offered their wisdom.

The battery in your Chevy key fob has lasted 22+ years? Impressive battery that was made by possibly the same company that makes the Ford batteries!

Fix Or Repair Daily! I remember that one!
I have a 2014 Chev the fobs quit working on.
The first time it happened they were reset at the dealer. Stopped again within a month. Will not reset now.

Several acronyms out there.
Love older Fors, but newer? Not so much…
Number 2 in the industry for recalls.

I had this problem on a pickup once, with some other weird things, and it was the body control module needing to be reprogrammed.

i have a 99 F150. ran into PATS issue. found a guy in midwest that programs out the PATS portion of anti theft in computer... PATS components were no longer available. Pulled the PCM and shipped to him, he turned reprogram around in a day. Truck has run fine since... Place was Garrett Tuning... great service too! Not sure on newer Fords but worth calling?

PATS and power door locks not working are apples and oranges. PATS is passive anti theft system. The truck won’t start unless it recognizes the keys that the truck is programmed to recognize. PATS has almost nothing to do with door locks working.
