I had the letter from Bryant White of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies in the last issue (Volume 11, Issue 3 of 4) of "THE FUR SHED" and "The Idaho Trapper" magazine (Volume 6, Issue 3 of 4) informing you guys and gals that this letter/survey was coming out to all licensed trappers. This letter/survey went out to all 50 states not just us.
So, fill it out this is a plus, plus for us trappers.
If you didn't see it in the magazine then most likely you're not of member of the Washington State Trappers Association. So, join your state association and the National trapper's association too. This way you can be updated all of the time with news and upcoming events.

I got the survey and completed it. I'm not sure why but it went straight to my junk email folder and I almost missed it.
Yea I went back and checked-mine was in the Junk folder.
This organization, is a proponent of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, which supports regulated trapping as a means of conservation among other things. Our illustrious WDFW as you all know much better than I, claims to use this model. Specifically for trapping, we know this is not the case, as the general public can through emotion, pass law through initiative (713), bypassing science, BMPs, etc with no way for the governing agency to pump the brakes. My random orbital thought pattern makes me wonder that by drips and dribbles, WDFW has slowly tightened various regulations not just in trapping (the red-headed step kid they don't like) but in fishing and hunting of which results in rule/law directly contradicting the North American Model, while claiming "science" when it's convenient, saying it's the WIldlife Council's decision to shift blame, or "well, the voters can make initiatives and there's nothing we can do." I wonder if anyone tried to track the various policy/rule changes that have been made to show a clear pattern of contradiction of the NAM/BMPs

Both of these out of the blue, science less attempts to change wildlife law by WDFW enforcement, are not for wildlife management. They are an attempt to generate more revenue, through the writing of tickets to sportspersons.

Frankthetank: classic examples are WDFW enforcement trying to arbitrarily change the wording of the trap check times. Even though the wording was passed by the voting public, and we have been living with that system for 24 years!

EXACTLY...and in outlawing most traps approved by BMPs and the North American Model philosophy, especially since not science based, then they can't rightly-a better word would be 'legally'-say they use the NAM/BMPs when they actually prevent this, regardless if their out is "Well 713 was citizen driven, not by us..."
