Hello!
I'm about to pick up my first muzzle loader and I've narrowed it down to the CVA Optima V2 or CVA Accura MR-X. I'll be using it primarily for deer hunting including backpack hunting. Possibly high buck as well.
They both seem like good guns and I'm wondering if anyone has any input for me. I'm trying to see why the Accura MR-X is worth a couple hundred bucks more.
I'll be putting the williams western precision sight on either gun.
Thanks in advance!

I chose the Accura MR over the Optima because it had a higher end barrel and higher comb height. I can't remember now if the trigger was better... too long ago and my memory is too fuzzy these days.
With the rules now of being able to use a 1x scope or red dot I would make sure the Optima can get a good sight picture with a raised optic. MR-X has adjustable comb, so that's not a concern.

I have both, Depends on your hunting style, the Optima has the ramrod under the barrel. The Accura ramrod comes in a pouch you carry. Both shoot great.

my Acura has a ramrod underneath the barrel, maybe because it's older?

I love my Optima and it shoots great out to 150yrds, I've never tried it any further. I chose it over the Accura because I couldn't justify the extra money for a barrel that might be a little more accurate when most of my shots are around 50yards.

Yes, the older accura had the ramrod under the barrel. I wish they kept the design that way...

I borrowed and optima v2 from a buddy to ML hunt for elk. He had the peep sight on it. I was shooting 5 inch groups at 150 yards.
If I buy one it will be the optima, it is more than good enough. I don't think I could shoot any better with peep sights. Super handy lightweight gun compared to my old TC Hawken 54 cal. I really enjoyed carrying it. Set up for sling and such.
