GoHunt doesnt have the odds either since the state has not provided them draw statistics from 2022 or 2023 to date. :dunno:

Must be putting in for the ghost point. Every time I submit for the ghost point I get the not selected as well. I’m pretty sure the chance of getting selected for that is actually zero…

The reality is WA actually has turned the draw around in about 3 weeks for quite a few years now. I know for awhile it was longer but they have been pretty consistent the last 3-5 years if memory serves me correct. So I'm guessing between June 12-14.

And they make nonresidents apply for their tags before the seasons are set. Same with Idaho as you need to buy your tags now on 12/1 to get one but you don’t know what the season will be 50% of the time since they have 2 year season setting. Granted they haven’t changed in years but they could.

I actually guessed the 13th. Based on what I know from the times I have been a witness I think it should be the 12th but I believe there is a new system this year, same procedure just a different company so I gave an extra day to work out the bugs.Agreed. It will not be this week.

i remember the first year they returned moose draw/hunting in Maine (late 70's). i was still in high school there. 2000 permits total with 500 of them for non res.....long story short 3 brothers drew that first year from my town and hunters across the state had a fit.. but the big rub really happened when they determined that only 500ish non residents applied that first year and effectively was 100% draw for non residents it was huge news and the talk for a long time everywhere you went.
i will say i recall the state response was pretty funny and it really changed the way they do the drawings / tags there. the drawings are a big event, people show up in mass, hand drawn by wardens real time announced selections ect....
over the first 10 seasons, my grandfather and mother both drew tags... i was gone in the service by then and didnt get to participate.

About the time you got the card in the mail you also got the refund for your applications less the filling fee on a full cash price to enter the drawing.
Which IMO should still be required. The wdfw can put the funds in a short term note and make the interest.

Special points haven’t increased by one yet. I didn’t expect it to be today (on a Monday), but I take that as confirmation that it’s not happening todayI don’t think it’s happening today either, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything change this early in the day.

If we don't get results this week I'm guessing there will be thousands of posts scrutinizing any license/webpage changes...on a minute by minute basis :chuckle:

Agreed. Points are mearly a way to track how long you've been applying. People that get mad because they have X amount of points and didn't draw, should look elsewhere for their frustrations.
30 points or 1 point, it really is a lottery for OIL and the higher end quality tags. For every guy with 20+ that draws there seems to be the guy that draws with 3.

I'm actually hoping the paper regulations saga kinda kept the draws off the main stream radar.
That everyone that did put in this year has thousands of a percent better chance to draw.
We would of had better odds for sure if they didn't extend the deadline.

From ODFW - controlled and premium hunt draw results will be available June 12.
Last few years they have been consistent with the day they say they will be available. Sad part is, i know i didn't draw Oregon.

Washington's draw system and odds are so messed up that GoHunt gave up on updating the stats two years ago. :chuckle:
That being said, I do like the fact that everyone has a chance to draw whether you have one point or 35 points.

I do hope my son draws as well. It is his last year as a youth hunter so I don't want to see his points be wasted. He should draw a youth muzzy antlerless deer. He harvested his first deer 2 years ago with a beautiful through the leg and heart shot.

should we be taking bets on how long after posting results it takes for the online licensing system to fail? My bet is 4 minutes after the draw results email goes out.
There's usually enough people trying to log in to slow the system down or completely make it unusable until around 4pm. After that it's usually not all that bad. That said I'll start checking around 1100 am.

They check double check, do cross checks and a few random checks of witness applications. Where do the witnesses go? Can we have somebody outside trying to witness the witnesses? Seems like an easy way for us to know for sure when the draw is without any of those people breaking their secret oath....
Last year it was all on zoom. Could be completely different this year tho :dunno:

Second deer draw odds today are the same a “quality deer” draw odds before we added the category system…. Second deer draw odds pre categories were 50% or better. Categories suck

:yeah: Can't buy it online. Have to by over the phone from Olympia or in person there. There's a mandatory waiting period where they can't sell it to you until I think 14 days after the draw has been completed.

I drew nothing and both my kids drew nothing with 4 pointsyouth tags are a joke well at least the elk tags are. My oldest drew a handful of youth deer tags before he aged out. He drew a youth muzzy elk tag his first year hunting at age 8. Nothing after that. My youngest has also draw a hand full of deer tags. He has seven points. Both my boys have been getting oil points since the first year they were born. There’s no Rhyme to reason just like the regular draw. Points don’t matter. I honestly wish they would go to a no point system. If it’s truly a weighted system like in other states I wouldn’t mind it. But it’s not. Do away with it!
