I have some friends that work out there that say they have some areas for me to check out Just tryin to get all the information I can would love to see pics of any bucks people have taken out of alkali especially with archery equipment thanks
-
Thats gonna be a tough hunt with a bow. i was hoping to get the rifle tag out there this year.
-
ya i figure i will be steppin back from the target and practicing with my bottom pins daily
-
so nobody knows guess i need more posts to gain sum cred
-
i know people that have had the tag but dont know what units theyve killed deer in. Look at the firing center web page and it show size and units of the deer people killed. Have good optics and do alot of scouting. Its going to be hotter than crap so i dont know where theyll be hiding that time of year. Best bets will be early morning and evening. :dunno: Theres some dandies out there though.

our tag is december 7 to the 25 so im hopein for some weather

You might want to check the dates again. The regs say Alkali E open Sept 1-26. :dunno: Hate to see you miss the opportunity by a few months. :yike:

-
hes probably got a rifle tag.
The web page is totally different now and i cant find the hunting portion. This is it i think. Maybe call them and get the link.

Hey Kyle, I got a nice buck out there in 07. I can give you some info, or go show you some good spots. If you no somebody who works out there and is willing to take you out they can get you into the impact area/closed area for everyone else of the YTC if there not blasting out there. Let me no because I'll have my access card anyhow for out there soon. I scouted that area for about 2-3 months before hunting, so I have a good feel for the area.
-
Get out there this summer a bunch. Get up high before sunup and glass. Find the areas with the biggest consentration of animals. The bucks will be in there bachelor groups thru Sept. After you start finding the animals start hiking and find there water source. Sit the water holes early and late in the day. Don't waste your time sitting during mid day because they won't be moving much unless it cools down or is over cast/raining. Make sure you scout 4 or 5 different units out there. There is no guarantee that the unit you want to hunt will be open. That's a great tag this year. I'm jealous.
DISCLAIMER: Check in with us here at the site and keep us posted or this will be the last piece of advise you will ever get from us :chuckle:

lol elk stuffer ya it is in sept i think he was lookin at the dessert tag or sumthin. I was debating about setting up a ground blind around the water souces. Klick i will hit you up maybe we can run out there Im pretty sure you know the other person i put in on this tag with. unfortunatly this tag will not get as much attention as my bull tag in rimrock I will keep you guys posted on both

you should flip your priorities.
-
Def think you should flip your priority. After not being hunted this last year, every animal has a year under its belt. I saw pics of a deer out there that would blow your freaking mind. If I hadn't seen the whole lot of them fresh from the camera I would have dubbed it photoshop. UNREAL.
-
well you going to share the photo so we can all drool???
-
I don't have access and its not mine. He is pushing 40, I called 38 conservative and is as proportionally tall. Hes a little light beamed, but then again most 35+ inchers are I suppose. I think he has one eyeguard, one was short but could have been broken I suppose. That was his only "weakness"

:yike:
-
I'm pretty sure I could change the draw statistics next year if I could post his pics. Kirkl might kill me though.
-
I kinda like the idea of every other year on the YTC.....could be a real trophy hot spot :dunno:
-
No doubt. You should have seen the bucks in Alta when they shut it down for 3 years and there were no wolves. Thats a different story though.
-
Yeah I know a guy that works out there, he says the impact zones are where all of the biggest ones hang out at. But I don't think they will let you hunt out there.
-
Ya bone, lets keep that one under lock and key. I wasnt going to mention it. :chuckle:
-
Bone, that buck your talking about is an elusive sucker come hunting season. He sticks in the MPRC(impact range) area a lot. Amazing buck
-
Can't you get access to the impact area when there's no firing going on?
