Title: MA10 launches
Post by: metlhead on May 28, 2024, 06:47:14 AM: Decided to have boat day with my wife on Sunday 2 June. Dockside lunch after a morning of coho fishing the Jeff Head area looks fun. Never been and was wondering what launches were available for 21' boat within 20 miles. Coming from the south and Kingston looks close but don't wanna deal with zero parking or mega early launch. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Post by: cohocrazy on May 28, 2024, 07:02:39 AM: Everett boat launch is probably your best bet. Lots of parking and shouldn't be to busy in June. Check the tides before you go.

Shilshole Marina might be your best bet if you're coming from south of Seattle and trying to hit Jeff head.

Everett is an excellent option except at really low tides, but seems like the extra drive in your truck and trip down to Jeff head would not be worth it.

The Port Orchard launch is good. As is Manchester. They have less parking but generally don't fill up in the "off" season...

I do like everett boat launch, plenty of parking and plenty of lanes, not to far to run down and fish area 10 if you don't mind a short run.

If you're coming from the south and food is a priority (as it should be), Don Armeni is tough to beat. Marination Mai Kai is next door, and there are a ton of other options near there around Alki.

Skip the drive through north Seattle (I5 to Shilshole can have traffic on a nice weekend day), and it's still an easy run up to Jeff Head.

Bremerton has the boat shed... limited dock space though
Bainbridge public dock walk over to Doc's or the harbour House.

Post by: Alchase on May 28, 2024, 12:11:50 PM: Gig Harbor has the Water Front Inn and Anthony's Home Port with Boat mooring if you are on the south end.

The Boat Shed on Rich inlet (Bremerton) has amazing food. As Fishgamereaper said, the Dock is tiny and the current rips through there. Watched a 40 foot sailboat loose its mooring rope and before the owner could get to the dock, his boat was hitting the Minette bridge pilling.

Post by: Parasite on May 28, 2024, 11:37:33 PM: Armeni has about 80 slots for trailer parking only and people also park on the street if full. Spot Prawn opener it was full. Two nice docks supporting four launch lanes was nice. $12 launch fee if I recall correctly.

Post by: metlhead on June 12, 2024, 11:25:02 AM: Halibut called on the opener. Ended up launching from Kingston and explored the area. Fishing was really good and kept 3 silvers about 3lbs each. Plenty of good sized Bmouth in the area also. Wife enjoyed the town even with all the pirates about.

Post by: metlhead on June 30, 2024, 08:04:33 PM: Decided to bail on the WP opener today. Rolled out early AM after a late night concert. Rough. Wife and I hit Jeff Head and found the silvers 100' down on top of bait. Short order crackered 4 with a handful of smaller fish. Back at the ramp early for a nap then pizza in town. Really enjoy this fishery.
