my guess is that there a plenty of fish that the tides won't matter much but I will probably start at the clay banks.

Right on, I love the optimism. Was thinking about running over to Vashon side

Was really hoping for an opening this sat, leave for Italy on the 5th. Last year was epic for us, have never caught more black mouth ever, and my biggest. We had 3 of us, limits for kings, silvers and even caught a legal size ling cod trolling! Had to steal my 18 lb king back from a seal that tried to steal it, it was an epic battle for about 20 minutes. I’ll never forget that day!

Great day in 11

That's a great day last year!!

Did anyone get out for the opener? Heading out for incoming tide tomorrow afternoon/evening

I did and it was slow. Released a 13-14ish native, and lost a bigger one at the boat.
-
That's not terrible. I'm hoping wind won't be too bad tomorrow, we are heading out around 3pm

I launch around 7A hopefully on the way home by 3p with any luck.
-
Caught fish at the point yesterday and today before and after the tide change and released a couple wilds but had to put in a some time. They're out there and pretty decent size too.
-
Spent a few hours out yesterday morning.
3 decent with extra fins had to go back and lost one to a seal that I ended up chasing to shore with the boat and somehow got all my gear back.
-
That's a story I'd love to hear sometime. We did terrible Friday evening, wind picked up and was tough sledding. The wife saw the Orcas though so that made up for it.

has been slow in 11 from my interactions with counters. Defiance very slow. i did get out first eve, had to toss back a 20+ # wild. got back out saturday eve, picked up a 15@ clipper. was not even a counter at dock at defiance when i got in! that was a first. just not seeing fish around that area right now...
-
Anyone having any luck in 11? Just starting to drag my gear out to give it a try.
-
Only heard it’s pretty slow, opened up to two kings and 7 days a week, kinda tells you how slow it is.
-
There is, or was (been a couple years since I've been in that area) a guide who lived a couple miles from the Ridgefield boat launch, I never saw tie downs on the back of his boat, hope he didn't have a false sense of security with his short drive to the launch.
-

That’s kinda what I thought too. Stopped by the PD ramp yesterday, looking pretty slow still.
-
8 shakers so far this am with one 6-7 pound king w a fun. No boats out here where we are at. Rough water if you are not protected by the wind.
-
The fish are there and you will get your fish when the tide lines up. Having to deal with these giant tides make it very very difficult to show that the fish are there.
-
Waited till slack tide, we prob caught 17-18 shakers and only the one 6-7 pound native. The wind just never stopped which kept us in one area. Didn’t make it to the clay banks, fished across from desmoines. Will try again on Friday.
-
Killed a small king this AM trolling PD, anyone out here today? Wondering how the mooching is going, sure a lot of boats doing that.
-
How did the rest of the day go?

I burned a few gallons out there this AM. I didn't touch one.

we quit around 2, had one other shaker, other than that not even a takedown. Tried mooching as well, really slow. My cousin went back out last evening and caught 6 shakers.
-
Cousin is out this AM, so far only a few shakers. He more north of Tacoma, Tacoma hasn’t given him a reason to go back for now, maybe the June 18th opener we’ll be back.
-
Went out to PD yesterday morning. Lots of dog fish. Saw two kings caught, one decent one but none for me.
-
Well, hopefully they are just a little late and the mid July season will be the one.

Well??? My cousin has only caught a couple shakers so far.

It was slow at first light but there were some fish caught. I got a finned fish about 8 lbs and a clipped about 11 lbs. Did see a 25lb keeper and another about 20. Typical point crowd, wasn’t too crazy. Overall I’d give it a “fair” rating for an opener.
-
We didn't get the lines wet until 7:45. Had a 14# in the boat by 8 and then hooked a 30# that we lost at the boat due to some netting difficulties >:(. Ended up with another 12# and lost a couple others that were definitely keeper fish if they were clipped. Wrapped it up around 11:30 as the tide was really starting to push. Overall I'd say it was a pretty good opener. This was at Pt. Defiance.
-
Thanks for the reports. I will be floating around out there this evening. :fishin:
-
Caught a 12 and 16 southern area 10
-
I launched at Pt D around 5 and bonked an 11 around 7am. We released a 15, and lost a toad jigging. Few shakers but I didn't think it was all that great of an opener for mid July.
-
Was up in area 7 last night. Took till 9 pm to get our last of 4 keeper kings. Released 5 undersized and 1 native. Also released 5 native silvers. Fun evening
-
Cousin ended up with one king after fishing all day in 11, he's at it again today.
-
Good luck today!!! At point D
-
One king one silver so far
-
Fished 2days. Came away with one 12 pounder. Broke off a big one after playing him for a long time. Three came unbuttoned at the boat 2 just a little over keeper size and one about 10. Tons of dogfish. So not the best luck with getting them in the boat but overall a fun couple of days
-
Anyone going tonight? Wind looks suspect but still might give it a shot

sorry for the late response, just got home and filet salmon. Not going tonight but point defiance was blocked by most the wind, it wasn’t bad compared to desMoines area where it was white caps. I’d go for it!
-
How was the evening bite??
-
Nice fish Jerry
-
Thank you, caught him early , then it went dead.
-
11 opens tomorrow till sat.

Where does it say A11 open tomorrow? I only saw A10

Grandson and I fished two days. Came away with one coho and one smallish (5-6 #) king. A couple 10 or so pound Kings came loose at the boat. So I’d say not bad but not seeing great numbers of Kings caught in ma11 yet.
-
Anyone out today? We are going tonight.

Mixed bag out there today. Some nice ones being caught along with some small fish

Yes 11 13 probably a good idea as well. Usually try to get my 11 fish then run to 13
-
Marking fish but slow.. lost an hour rescue an older couple of the rocks who got high sided by the tide. More to come

Last light trying to finish our limit jigging the clay banks maybe 5 boats in the area at this time had a guy troll right around us as we were drifting snagged our gear in his line then proceeded to cut all our gear off our lines and try to keep it. Turned into a bit of a *censored* show when we motored up to get our gear and ask why with no one out there he decided to troll right on top of us. The old man proceeded to tell us to stay on top our gear (This we do as we fish productive) when he was informed he was in the wrong the bigger younger guy starting popping off screaming and yelling he was going to kick our ass!!!! I know *censored* happens and especially when its busy it gets tight but this was a great example of what our fishery is turning into. dude was heading to the boat launch to wait for us. another boat came over and the guy was saying that these guys are running around causing problems with lots of people and apologized for them. The fact that this man felt the need to apologize for a couple ass hats made us quite upset so we rushed to the boat launch to meet these guys and nicely explain to them they were not welcome back. Needles to say they must have been in a hurry to leave as they were no where in sight. not sure if anyone has had issues with these guys in 11 but they are dragging meat lines in a white aluminum boat. Been fishing out there for over 20 years had as few issues but this was a first to get to this level.

That sucks.. I've been pretty fortunate over the years. So back to the first part, how close did you get to your limits?

I was out there until 230ish. Didn't see any drama. There are some meatheads out there though.

We started fishing at 6 pm and hit 3 fish by sundown. One just before the high slack right when we started and the last 2 right when the slack shifted

I hit three fish yesterday. One 25plus one 13ish and one 10ish. All natives. I can't catch a break.

Those are the days you question everything. at least you got them to the boat ive had those days where every one comes uncorked....

Well, lost a nice one at the boat about 7am. Tons of boats for a Thursday. And then yard sale a little later!!! Caught a pot rope or something at gig harbor, 170 of water and 125 on the downrigger. First one hung up and gear. While trying to get the wife on the rod the other one hung up. cutting lines and second one pulled under boat, in the kicker... Day over.....

Skunked again. Lost another one mooching and one on the troll. It was dog fish central. Should have went to 10.

Yes, the doggies were thick on Saturday, especially at high slack. We did end up with 2 kings around 10# but it was a real PIA! Didn't seem to matter what you put down there it was almost an immediate hookup with a dogfish.
-
When will the migratory coho start coming through 11 and 13? Thinking about doing some beach fishing. Now or still couple of weeks?
-
Net pen silvers show up in Oly about 10 Sep

There are fish there now.
-
It’s still slow but there are fish to be had, went 5 for 6 today.
-
We landed a 5# coho off Pt. Definace last weekend.
A few kings in the mix also being caught.
-
Coho are thick in 10 with the rains. Should be good down in 11 now too.

They're coming - We couldn't keep rods in the holders in Area 5 (Seiku), limits every day.
-
Heading out this evening for the incoming and high tide. Anyone else been out? We did ok last weekend north end of 13. Might head up to 11 or fish green can in 13

Should have went north. Marked a ton of fish, about 10 boats doing the loop only one keeper of everyone around at green can. Dana's was slow as well. Talked to a couple at the launch and same story. Marking fish but none of us threw what they wanted. We tried everything hardware, stuffers and bait.

Really big tides for the passage. Tuck into any small bay inside the current line. Sometimes only 20' deep. Locate the sailboats and get under them
-
Limits daily in 11
-
Anyone been out fishing 11 the past couple days? We've been up in 10 and it's been excellent. Area 11 would be much closer to home, but it's been real hit or miss for me in years past. so looking for some recent reports.
-
Fished Dolphin pt on Saturday. Consistent action when the schools went past. The coho seemed to be moving thru with the rain and not milling around. We were in 500 FOW due east of Dolphin. Hoochie with herring strips 70-100' of wire.
-
My intel is a bit confusing. Old timer friend has been limiting out there for a couple of weeks each day on coho. then the last two times out they couldn't catch one after 7 hours of fishing. two days ago after getting blanked he came in and fish checker said that 100 fish were checked?? He saw maybe two or three caught all day. I know the coho have not been real heavy in the rivers so not sure where those suckers went.
-
Thanks guys. I've heard it's been real hit or miss in 11 the past week. I'm supposed to take a couple people out on Thursday morning. Would much prefer to be up in 9 or 10 where I know it's been consistent, but we've got to stick with 11 due to limited time and schedules.
