We saw bears every time we were out of the tent. They were out in BIG flats, with no cover whatsoever. We killed this big one by sneaking into 100 yards while he was bedded and waiting for a shot. After almost 2 hours he rolled to his side and we had a good look at his chest. She hit him 3x (30-06) in the chest and he never left his bed.

Nice job.. what 06 ammo were u running, mainly bullet construction and weight.. also did the shots pass through?She used Federal brand 180gr Copper bullets. We recovered one of them on the backside shoulder against the hide. They worked perfectly
Looks like a nice trip. I had my Kodiak bear made into a rug untrimmed incase I get the urge at some point to do a full mount. Would take up way too much room though.Thats a good idea! It's at D&C in Anchorage now, they will flesh and dry it. We got ears/feet split and turned but fleshing that hide looked like a miserable job!

Great bear! Is that a Sandhill Crane between the 2 bears?Yes! Those goofy things were constantly around, they were fun to watch and listen to, but would always catch my eye while glassing the big open plain
