Drew a Norway Pass muzzleloader tag, any and all info on access, camping, or any constructive info would be greatly appreciated

Congrats!
There was a great write up on this hunt a couple years ago.
Use the search feature. It will be worth the read.

VERY NICE

Congrats!!

I hunted that and killed a bull in there with my bow the last year it was still part of the Margaret special draw before Margaret went to otc. Shoot me a pm and I’ll help you out with what I can

Unparalleled views and lots of elk up there it’s a special place… but you’re gonna earn it! I wished I had a nice pack back then
-
I put in for this one as well
maybe next year
good luck to you on your hunt

Congrats on drawing an awesome tag.
I had the bull tag in 2019. NP becomes a part of you after you experience it in a way that has been rivaled by only Hell’s Canyon, in my experiences.
When I have some free time I’ll send you a PM with what I learned in my time there and on a couple hikes in there since.
In the meantime, start getting in shape, buy a good backpacking tent and trekking poles if you don’t have them and work on stretching your muzzleloader range out to a couple hundred yards if you can/haven’t already.
When I drew it, I didn’t have a sense for what an amazing hunt it is.

I drew the tag this year as well! Hunted the area with family members who drew a couple times back when Margaret was draw only. It is huge country so be prepared for a backcountry mountain hunting experience. Be in the best shape possible and be ready to spend a couple days packing out if you are successful. I can’t wait!!

Fun fun. Tons of work going solo. I would recommend 3 or 4 guys going with you.

Thank you, will try my best and take your advice

I can’t believe I missed that thread, you sir are a Beast! I had me +4 guys. killed my bull at 10am, made it back to spike camp right at dark, packed up at daylight with camp and the bull and made it back to the truck at noon. It was still lots of work with a good crew but the hard ones are the most memorable! That bull is always a topic of conversation and the occasional middle finger from one of my packer buddies when they are over at the house :chuckle:

We went up and down the “hunters trail” it knocked off quite a few miles but it’s STEEP and not much for switchbacks.

The best part of hunting is making those memories saying let’s not do this again.

x2 to all of this. Dark2Dark knows his stuff! I had the Margaret goat tag the same year he was hunting elk in there. You will earn every ounce of that bull and come to love the unit...whether you tag out or not. Excited to follow along on this.
PS saw plenty of elk during my goat hunt, but never a bull larger than a 5 point. Some big 5's in there though. And very vocal.

Congrats! That hunt is, imo, the best outdoor, high country experience you will ever experience in WA State. I had the archery bull tag in there last year. PM me for specifics. There is a HUGE bull in there in a hard to reach spot... I could never get the wind right but I'd love to see photos of him on your back.

When is your tag for I also drew the muzzleloader tag? September 14-20th
