I live just south of the unit have hunted it mostly for bears. Saw a dandy three point in 1996 while bear hunting, and I could have killed it with a slingshot it was so rutted up.
Took my son up in it last year for modern. Saw some good sign in one spot (amazingly enough as the wolves were in this area all summer killing deer, carcasses found).
I’m going to give it my best shot, this will be my last deer tag probably ever in this state unless the deer herds come back, at 56 YO I seriously doubt that will happen in my lifetime. And yes the blacktail numbers up here in the north sound are dismal at best.

As stated in the deer draw thread I drew this tag. I stated I wasn’t going to share where but after thinking about it I changed my mind. It’s not like it’s a mule deer honey hole unit. I used 12 points to draw it.Where is this pack of wolves in the 418?

Saw four bucks today, big two point, 1x2, couple spikes in a group. Not rutty at all, in fact they didn’t like my doe in estrus call.That’s a fantastic day in the blacktail woods on my books

Last Wednesday during regular season I put my son on a two point but he gave him the slip.
Saw this monster today, but his firsts are lacking so I passed on him. I tried petting him, but at 10 feet he got up and walked out of his bed.
I had some really good access, but it fell through due to my friend got hurt and can’t really walk.
But another guy I know hooked me up with some access today, fingers crossed.
