Im having Jacob Newman at Frontier Taxidermy out of Shelly Idaho remount my dads 263" NT. He supplied a big headed cape and this is the first pic he sent me. Its a semi sneak right turn shoulder pedestal. Should be done in a couple of weeks. Ill post a pic when completed

I look forward to seeing a finished mount.

That thing is an absolute stud. Can't wait to see it
-
Beautiful MD.👍

Dang what a stud! What's the story on the buck? Looks like it was an early season kill
-
Can't wait to see it. Is your dad still around? I'm sure he'd be tickled that you've done this.

Dad shot him in 1956 in Central Idaho during regular season

Unfortunately he isnt. He would be very happy for sure. He killed a lot of giant bucks but this was his biggest
-
Stud for sure. Looks great so far.
-
That is an incredible buck and so cool you're having him remounted.
-
Awesome buck and great story

Buck of a lifetime for sure. Glad your getting it remounted and displayed for many more years of enjoyment.

Absolutely unreal deer! Thank you for sharing him!

That's a true buck of a lifetime right there!

Here is a pic after the hide is on. He still needs to do some tune ups and touch ups
Thats my last years archery Antelope in the back ground he is doing at the same time. He is actually doing my dads buck, my first solid buck ( another remount ) and last years Antelope. It will be fun picking up all 3 in a couple of weeks
-
That’s a pretty cape with the double throat patch

Is that from Ryans book? The funny thing about it is Ryan took more info from my mom as dad wasnt to interested. Ryan is a great guy though

It is. His first volume of idaho's greatest mule deer. Absolutely insane how much work went into those books.

Have any pictures of the original mount?

Probably but the one Karl posted from Ryan Hatfields book is the original mount. If I rememnber right some guy down the street in Hailey did it for him

Family heirlooms like that don't get much better IMO. I know you've posted that buck on here before. I seem to remember you saying central Idaho and maybe even more specific like north of Ketchum or east of Stanley stands out in my mind. Hope theirs still some more like that out there!

You know Doublelunger, thats exactly what it is.
I have posted it before. He killed it up the Big Wood river. A drainage called the East Fork of the North Fork. Still great buck country. We all dream of getting on a buck like this but they are few and far between on public now days but guys still turn them up

I think he did. He chose a good cape and it turned out really good. One of the best things about Jacob is he genuinely cares about the quality of his work and wants your input into every detail
-
That is a damn cool buck!!
-
Great buck and the redo is outstanding. Your dad would be proud!
