I have noticed the service berry crops are sparce in my neck of the woods. This hot, dry weather has put a hurt on the berry crop.

have a handful of bears on cameras at my cabin. Hoping to knock at least one down and help out the deer herd
That’s my thought as well, I’ve always perused them in the past but not as hard as deer and elk. Going to try to out a bit more effort into it this year. Can’t claim to care about conservation and not be willing to consciously try to control predators I figure.

Couple medium sized bears we will be looking for. Not picky at all though and small bears will fill the first tag without a second thought.is there a bakery near there ? Them things are fat !

It's all the fawns they have been eating. We had at least 11 pregnant does on camera this spring. I have only seen 3 with fawns so far. One had twins.
We have two sows on camera with triplets.....three with twins and a couple with singles this year. This state has a bear infestation.
Here are a few normal sized bears.

The huckleberry crop in N. Idaho is really good and a little later than normal! I would assume it's similar in NE WA.
Ya the berry situation will play a role,if I even walk out the door.
Yes it's similar,or maybe worsening with the heat.
Those green huckleberry will dry up fast and turn to dust.
This heat is doing nobody any favors.

One of my native carpenters is going to help put me on one as well down here in OR. Love how cheap the NR OR bear/cougar tags are. Would happily buy a second.

I had a 30 second delay on the cam . Only one bear pic was on the cam for a month soak.

The girls have been asking me since turkey season when is bear season. They got up and spoke to the commission in May trying to help our cougar hunting. They're all in on predator hunting. They ask about daily now when bear starts because the countdown has gotten so small and they are excited to go. We went picking last weekend and did really well but I didn't see any bear sign and haven't in my trips the last two berry seasons. Last year I made a trip to the NE and didn't get a shot on two bears sub 50 yards with a form member here that was very helpful. He tolerated my girls coming along one of the days too at which time they were only 4yo! I'm working on figuring out how to hunt closer to home here in SW Washington and plan to target the 560, 574, & 578 area as that is under 2hrs from me and there should always be consolation berries. 100 degree heat forecasted for opening day ,here in the NE.
I won't be out for awhile, between work,busy ,busy,busy.
That 100 degree forecast is not great.
Anyone change there hunt plans based on weather.
Early mourning,late evening,take a nap midday with the bee's in the nap weed. Or what?
Just took that bear test.
Them grizzly cubs got me. One looked like grizzly,other one looked like black. Ohh well still passed.

I will be out hopefully for the last hour or two of daylight tomorrow evening then both morning and evening on Saturday. I will be at my cabin so most the day will be spent working on projects with bear hunting being those couple hours where its not stupid hotSame here. I will be at my place for the evening opener then working on projects midday Friday Saturday and Sunday. Hoping to connect with a bruin one of those days.
