If you only had 10 days to hunt, what would be your preferred dates?
-
For blacktail in WW about October 27th running thru the first week of november...In EW for mulies about the 5th of November running 10 days i.m.o......Les
-
Moosestock pretty much nailed it for WW, can't speak for eastside.
-
Need to know specie and weapon your using as dates would dramatically vary

LOL, I skipped that part. Archery, whitetail.
I have a cam check coming up and if no mature bucks, I'll just scout more. I'll skip early opener if that's the case and hunt Nov/Dec.

You like the rut. I see a lot of BT cruising those same dates

I would hunt from around the 22nd of november through the 2nd of december.

If you got a target buck patterned I’d hunt sept 1-5, if not and you are in 101. Nov 19-29. Other units Nov 25-Dec 5 or the last week of season if using bait.

No target buck yet. If nothing mature next week when I check cams I'll pass on the early opener and hit it in Nov/Dec and just hunt the entire month of Sept for elk here.. I'm not limited in hunting days, I was just curious in what people preferred. The down side to me hunting late season is since it's my first year there I'm not sure which spots I have scouted will actually accessible but I figure a couple seasons to figure things out.

definite issue in the unit you are hunting is snow. We learned a long time ago to not summer scout too far from main plowed roads, due to the fact you are not getting in. Unless you got tracks or a sled

Me too but, being retired I actually hunt 6 1/2 months any day I chose if ya count my managing damage tags for elk here in Oregon lol

Passed on early season archery deer. Killed a 5x4 roosie bull here in Oregon to send my buddy home with 1/2 elk. Had it not been for being nice, I'd have given him a pass. I think my favorite two spots will be accessible but there, I'll find out I guess lol. If not, I'll scout mid Nov and regroup for a December hunt. Even If I manage a buck in November, I'm headed back in December for a 5 day period to finalize my future preferred dates. Gonna make it an annual trip.

The first week of November would be pretty special to be able to hunt in my neck of the woods, they don’t give out any tags for that time of year unfortunately.
