Title: clemans b
Post by: coachcw on June 17, 2009, 09:55:08 AM
Hi folks , I'm new to this forum . I was lucky enough to draw a Clemens b sheep tag for November . any help or info would really be appreciated . I've been bow hunting for the last 17 years and have been fortunate enough to harvest many elk . the whole sheep thing is new to me . I've been lucky enough to also draw the bull tag for the same unit this year , so I see allot of weekends of scouting ahead. thanks for any help out there and thanks to Chuck Berg from advantage taxidermy for turning me onto this sight.    Corey Wisner .

I wish I had your luck since I see Clemans every morning when I wake up. Yet will never draw a tag it seems.

That was MY tag...... >:(.  Best of luck on the hunt, it should be a dandy, bighorns in the rut, it should be a pretty easy hunt to dial in, give the bio a call.  Make sure you post some success pics, most of us can only dream of a sheep tag.  I've heard the sheep are pretty low on the mountain during that time of year.

about 90% of my sheep pics are from there.  Just gander about.  Where are you from...what do you coach?

This was one of the nicer ones I saw up there last winter. Sorry I cropped the pic a little.

Congratulations on the draw.  Tell us a little about yourself.  Chuck is a good guy, has done some of my work, and has posted some of his work here.

There are some good resources, but everyone will want to know more about you before they give up too much info.
Best of Luck and keep us posted along the way.  Take lots of pictures on your scouting trips, because that will be much of reliving the memory on a once in a lifetime hunt.

About Me . I own a automtive repair shop in seattle , I'm 39 years young and live in bothell . i'm married to my hi school sweatheat , and have two kids , both my son and daughter are getting into hunting . This will be my sons first year of bow hunting , he's really stoked . I've been luckey enough to hunt bc for mule deer and col , id , ore , mt  and wa for elk . Thats Why I work . Most of my hunts are do it yourself . i've also done drop camps. I've made my own luck I'm sure as most of you. calling elk has been a passion and  the trips  have brought some great new frends into my life. I hunt hard and agressive often when it's getting dark I'll head in deeper if the elk are moving . I never expect an easy hunt , i think that the memories are better if you have to work at it. My best bull score in the 360's , shoot him while calling another elk in for mike from the nock point , thats luck I was pinded down in the open and he couldn't resist. An hour later mike arrowed a bull as well . I coach My daughters softball team , this year I'm also coaching the all stars . we finish on the 4th of july , after that it's all about scouting  for this season . I was really lucky to draw the november hunt since a group of us from the nockpiont have a elk hunt planned for Mt in the end of sept . Chuck dose great work and really is a stand up guy . The thropies he's mounted for me are some of the best I've seen . He's looking forward to a sheep mount as well . If any one one wants to give me a call feel free my cell is (206) 718-3071 . Clemens is really conducive to bow hunting. I friend of mine took one with a bow a few years ago there. That was early though.

Clemans is a sweet tag to have. Lots of animals, deer, elk, sheep, yotes, etc.

You should not have any trouble finding sheep that time of year. If you get some snow, they will be along the hwy.
I used to camp at the mud lake rd and see sheep on the hills out side the door of my camper.

I used to camp at the mud lake rd and see sheep on the hills out side the door of my camper.
One day a few years ago I had to honk several times and drive right up on a herd of ewes on that road to get them to move out of the way.  They were taking advantage of a natural mineral lick on the side of the road about 1/4 mile shy of the lake.

call up the bio at the yakima office he will point out the areas where the sheep spend their time, my dad had an umptanum tag last year and the first coupla scouting trips he was having trouble finding rams, after we went in and talked to the bio we found rams every day we scouted, and my dad ended up taking a 170" ram, im sure he knows the cleman herd just as well. congrats on the tag and good luck hope ya bag a monster ram

Give me a call sometime Coach. I'm looking at Clemens out my bedroom window as I'm typing this. I've helped a few guys fill there tags the last few years. That late tag is a good archery opportunity. They will be low but scattered over 8 to 10 miles. My number is at the bottom of the post.

Congrats, on the tag Coach. Clemens is a great place to have a bighorn tag. I killed my first ram there in 97 and have been back to help several other people. If I was lucky enough to get a raffle tag I think I'd have to try to kill a Clemens ram with my bow also.
I would be more than happy to help answer any questions you have.
There are lots of members in WAFNAWS that have started their sheep hunting carriers with this tag. Drop me a line.
Be careful, sheep hunting it can be addicting!
