Title: Spokane Area Bird Hunting
Post by: BrandonD on August 21, 2024, 09:49:16 AM: Hi all! I'll be finishing my grad degree at GU this fall/spring, and hoping to get out and hunt some birds this fall. I hunted a fair bit when I was a teenager (mainly for ducks and a little bit of big game). I've been wanting to get into hunting upland birds, pheasant mainly but am open to anything, but don't have a dog and my past experience trying for pheasants without a dog was very difficult. I'm also happy to "trade" some some knowledge about backcountry skiing/winter backcountry travel/mountaineering if of interest. I've worked in the design of backcountry ski/avalanche rescue equipment, have a solid amount of training and lots of experience in various parts of the Americas I'd be stoked to share.

Nice congrats. Not having a dog is harder but not impossible for killing birds. I have killed plenty where the dog had no part of it, especially around thickets of Russian Olive trees. If you can find patches of those, near some water and other cover, you will probably find birds.
