Watch/listen to this discussion with Kevin Robertson about big bore safari cartridges (.50 caliber and larger) at the links below to learn all about some truly tooth rattling, retina detaching, and clavicle breaking rounds!
And yes, just like the thread title states, Kevin starts off the interview with a story of a guy in Zimbabwe injuring tearing his rotator cuff and shattering the windshield of his Land Cruiser with a single shot from one of these rifle cartridges.
Cartridges Discussed:
500 BPE

500 Jeffery
505 Gibbs
577 Snider
577 Nitro Express
577 T-rex
585 Nyati

I think I’ll pass on all of those

The 577 Snider is a mild cartridge it's an old British military round. It's big and slow 1300 FPS, I've shot it in a carbine about the same recoil as a 20ga.

You are correct. I've never shot the 577 Snider, but I've shot the 577/450 derived from it pretty extensively.
Those two cartridges are by far the least powerful out of all discussed in this episode though.
