Well it was on schedule
Some fine POS,s wrecked a bunch of it
Definitely took some effort
I sure hope they had surveillance cameras on it
What the heck is wrong with people ?

Holy smokes!
-
Good lord. Did they use one of the machines to destroy the other machines, or was this some kind of sasquatch?
-
Looks to me like big excavator used
Fricken chit heads
Couple extra months of main rd closure, and upcoming school bus congestion and couple extra million $ for the taxpayers

Wow, the closure has been annoying. I have had to turn around a few times out of habit. I am sure they’ll find the people responsible, probably some neighborhood kids. Feel for the contractors on that, sure they were more pissed than anyone.
-
Looks like Old Seabeck for me for awhile longer. Dirtbags!

They flipped a sweeper and tossed a mini x... besides the damage to structure of the road build...like Max said .. added construction time, right next to a school entrance... major inconvenience...big time over run on cost...if the locals find the guy they'll use the excavator to bury him..
Bunch of POS running around Kitsap right now.. cutting fiber optics and phone lines to..

Maybe a disgruntled ex employee? Start hanging out in the 19th hole and see whos bragging.
-
Nobody is afraid of consequences of behavior like this anymore. And they're right not to worry.
I'm really surprised vigilante justice isn't more of an issue in the Puget Sound region, and areas like it with the same mindset. Haven't people had enough yet?
-
My wife said on her Facebook
People are mixed in responsibilities for this
To me
I’d charge them with domestic terrorism
Communication disruptions and travel corridors attacked
Lock em up
-
My guess would be kids

My guess is a disgruntled ex-employee. Kind of makes me glad that Seton beat us on that job because there is probably at least $1M in damage. I'm sure there isn't a 3rd party damage clause in the contract, so it will like go through Seton's insurance and cause their rates to go up. Like others have said, there is no fear of consequences anymore and dirtbags get away with this all the time. I seen this early today and it made me grateful for the couple thousand in stolen materials and vandalism I had on a job in downtown Tacoma this week even though that will come straight out of our pockets.
-
Is that equipment user friendly enough for kids or methheads to jump in and use like that? Sincere question.
-
Most kids and meth heads dont have keys, so why I'd lean towards a disgruntled ex-employee. :twocents:

Son in law who does dirt work says all machine keys are universal
$5 key caused all that damage
I hope they get caught
-
Not sure a kid would be able to figure out how to run that machine
A tweaker would of walked it down the road and used it break into the Chevron for beer and cigarettes.
This seems retaliatory.. Or someone is enjoying the road closure to much.
They need to pave the good half of the road and get traffic back on it..
-
Good point on the beer and cigs
Sounds about right
:chuckle: :chuckle:
-
They would have grabbed the atm also...

Kind of, they are universal by manufacturer, but for example you cannot use a Cat key to start a John Deere or vice versa. The excavator is a Hitachi, which will actually use a John Deere key though you have to either steal a set of buy them from the dealership. My vote is still a pissed off ex-employee getting his revenge.
-
We had to drive up and look after supper
Most all the equipment is still tipped over just lying there
Nobody around
That we could see
-
Keys are super easy to come by. :dunno: Maybe just in my world. Anyone can jump in an excavator and knock stuff over. You guys are giving them too much credit. A tweaker is not going to waste there time vandalizing stuff.
-
thats why i was asking if it was that easy.
-
Just saw some video on the news. Looks to me like somebody had at least a little experience on a hoe. Thats a lot of vandalism and damage to get done in a short time over a large area without being caught.
-
You can get those keys on Amazon, any rental agency, dealership, or most anyone who’s ever worked around heavy equipment has a ring of them. You could probably find a key on most machines if you know where to look. I’ve got a key ring on the dash of my truck that will start almost any machine in the country. When I had a bunch of machines parked all around Seattle I was constantly worried about that.

100%, these aren’t cars. Most forklifts can start with a pen cap.

I had an ignition so wore out on an excavator I could start it with my thumb nail.

Well, maybe around Christmas they’ll reopen this road and I sure hope somebody gets their ass caught

Newberry Hill Rd Closed from
Approximately 400 feet east of Sesame St NW to approximately 1250 feet west of Tieton Place NW
6/20/2024 10/31/2024
Looks to me like new completion date to fix and redo is 10/31/2024
Saw it on the local gov road projects website
🤞🤞
-
Wow. I lived near there for a few weeks under 21 years. It’s sure changed since I moved there in 1999

If it takes two months to fix the damage it's a scam. That's almost longer than the original project.
If they wanted to they could fix it in a week.
But there's no money in being efficient and getting something done.

Now they’re saying November 3

Glad they got him.
-
It's not his first rodeo...
He's been around....
Civil reimbursement to all affected would be nice but he doesn't have a pot to piss in so 5-10 would be fine...
-
Meanwhile in Yakima, someone through rocks through the police station window last night and several businesses in town
-
Nothing like being hauled to jail in your pajamas! A question I have is why was a private company using county equipment for the project?

No idea it’s fixed he’s caught it’s Washington. He’ll be told not to do it again and give him some community service cause he’s a mental case.
Next summer, I’m sure he’ll be working on a roundabout or fish passage somewhere
