Title: 49 Degrees North Youth Tag
Post by: MuleDeerCrazy on June 18, 2009, 01:57:07 PM
My 11 year old daughter drew one of the moose youth tags and I wondered if anybody might have some suggestions on spots that typically hold cows?  The bulls don't seem to be as hard as the cows?  Most of the cows we see are moving out, and while me daughter has killed a few deer, she needs a little more time to get set up and ready for a shot rather than jumping out and shooting one on the run.

Was trying to find a spot we could glass her a cow feeding and then move in on it so she'd have a realistic shot and could be ready.  Or even a spot we could slip her into where they tend to hang out, again someplace we wouldn't be busting them out of as soon as we see them.

It's been fun getting her into hunting (passed hunter ed when she was 7).  The other girls in her class don't know what to make of her.  They bring in pictures of themselves in their Aunt's wedding and mine takes in pictures of her with every dead thing she can find.  The girls give her a mortified look and the boys one of envy.  We'll see if she keeps it up.

Either way, she's stoked about the moose hunt.  Any ideas would be great and we'll keep everybody posted.  I'll make her do a write-up for everybody.

Thanks again!

Congrats to her drawing! :IBCOOL: Shouldn't be to hard find a cow to shoot. Every time i'm in the 49 unit i see cows the would be easy for anyone to shoot they just stand around and look at you. :twocents: Good luck on the hunt!
