Title: vortek muzzy scope 1x24 mounting
Post by: shorthair15 on September 09, 2024, 01:15:33 PM
picked up one of these to give a try mounted it with meduim rings i can see the barrel at the bottom of the crosshair when looking thru the scope? im using meduim height rings wonder if i should go with high rings instead. always used open sights so this is a first for me. ive mounted tons of scopes but never a 1x so dont know if thats why. i put it on my vortek ldr vapr traditions. any one run into this.

I'm guessing that is just a function of the massive field of view due to zero magnification, I doubt ring height would measurably affect it. I would mount to whatever height makes for comfortable scope acquisition and call it a day  :dunno:

Same with my 1X wouldn’t worry about it unless it distracts you too much.

For my knight I used lowest bases and leupold extra low rings and yes I can see the barrel clear as day but it shoots great

Yeah you can see the fiber optic front sight on mine, I just taped the front sight to avoid distraction from the center of the crosshairs.

If there is a front sight up there I think I would remove it. I know a someone who missed a bull out of state because of this. In the moment he put the front sight on the bull while looking through the scope and missed!

I could see my front sight in mine as well, so I removed it and it is much less distracting.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for my Knight DE. Are there any bolt clearance issues? If so does ring height affect this?

You'll see the front sight no matter what ring height.

Thanks, but my question is are there any bolt throw issues on the knight rifles and say low mount rings?

That will depend on what bases and rings you use.  I have Leupold QR bases and rings on my Knight disc extreme.  I have a pentax 1X scope mounted in low rings.  I also have a Vortex 1X that I bought and I put it into medium rings. The ocular end on the vortex is bigger than the Pentax.   The bolt handle is pretty close.  I don't know what kind of bases and rings you're using so it might be some trial and error.

Thanks for the info on the rings and bases. I'm leaning toward Warne steel base and Warne Med QD rings.

I have one on my disc extreme and it’s a shooter , I used leupold low rings and it’s plenty of clearance and easy to put a 209 in it
