Title: Opening weekend success
Post by: Martinhunter on September 09, 2024, 05:14:23 PM: Well still looking for my first archery bull but it’ll have to wait till next year. My goal this year due to very limited time off from work was filling the freezer and I was able to do just that on this beautiful cow. Opening morning I was on somewhat of a vocal herd bull at first light but he continued to push his cows away from me until they went into the hell hole that I wasn’t willing to drop into solo.
Morning number 2 I got on a good size herd at first light and took a 25 yard shot on the first legal elk that presented a shot. She ran 100 yards to the bottom and piled up.Very blessed and thankful to the good Lord for providing!

I tend to take a similar approach of, "If it's brown it's down."

perzactly...the only time I didn't kill the first legal game I saw was in 2006 when I killed an OIL Bull moose. That filled a couple freezers so I was a little picky that fall after that. Congrats on the harvest
