When they shut down the Bethel unit in 2021, all they did was allow me to turn in my Q-tag and get my points back. Now at 66 I may never draw again:(

Well the USFS has went over board in closing much of the Manson unit and overlapping into the Alta unit in my estimation. Of coarse they wont open it at all this year or at the very least until after the general deer season. I talked to one contractor on the East side of the unit who stated that it they are working 7 days a week on the roads. Not sure if this is coming out of the Pioneer Fire budget or not but my guess is that it probably is. You will be able to drive your passenger car up there next year if the winter rain/snow melt doesnt undue the work being done

To quote a famous movie line, "if you build it, they will come" - in Subarus, Teslas, and Prius' unfortunately

I couldnt wrap my head around why so much of the Twisp river got shut down or continues to be shut down.

:dunno: I have a buddy that said they were working on finalizing putting gravel down on roads impacted by all the fire vehicles and the plan currently is to silently open before general season. But we all know that depending on the head of forest service can do whatever they want.

Tara Umphries is the person that signed the closure order for USFS. The response I got from my email to her this week did not sound positive about any openings soon.
Her email is tara.umphries@usda.gov
If you wish!

The fire must still be active? Plus they have to inspect all the roads, clear debris and probably don’t want the public popping up out of nowhere when they are working. Just a guess, they sort of have to take the most cautionary approach now a days. The FS is already in a deficit, last thing they is another lawsuit.
