Only in WA does too large of a return of salmon trigger multiple "Emergency" situations.
I talked with Shaniqua and she said if the massive number of returning fish don't slow down, they will have to change the rules to a single, barbless #22 hook tied on backwards.

That about puts an end to it for the year.

We can never win. If the run comes in poor compared to prediction, limited to no fishing opportunity. Run comes in better than expected and we catch too many, shut it down. This state is frustrating....

"The closure to wild coho retention will allow the fishery to continue without putting other fisheries or attainment of conservation objectives at risk"
"other" fisheries would include the Snohomish River, which opened Saturday, so laugh yourself silly and I'll see you on the river....or not..

Ok. If you don’t see the big picture here never mind. Good luck on the river.
