I received a call today from a hunter who was taken for $6500. Seems like the guy from Graham is still working the Shows taking money while delivering nothing. I hadn’t seen anything on him for sometime. The Hunter felt confident booking with someone at the Tri Cities Outdoor Show. Seems the Show Management is not interested in helping. I’m thinking this guy has changed his business name at least 3 times due to cases like this. On private land I’m not sure what can be done. I doubt he has insurance or any type of business license. The hunter has a Westside elk tag I tried to steer him in a good direction. He told me if he was 10 years younger he would recoup a chunk of his $6500
-
Wow, that's sad and terrible. Sure hope he can find a way to recuperate his losses and that there are repercussions for the culprit.
-
Isn’t some kind contract being signed?
Geeeez I would think he could take him to court or get the attorney general on it. So this guy gets barred from offering hunts ever again.
What’s up? You just give a guy 6500. On his word?
-
Tell him to file a complaint with the attorney general office. If enough people he rips off do this, it’ll catch up with him. Unfortunately suing someone like him is probably a waste of time & money. Most lawsuits that the plaintiff wins go uncollected.

He can't be that hard to find. He obviously spends some time in the woods. I would give him one chance to refund my money.....then.....well, we will leave that everyone's imagination. ;)
-
There's a common phrase where I live - "We'll take him crabbing"
The trick this guy is pulling - if he's one and the shane I'm thing of - is that he targets people who have much more to lose trying to recoup their money than he does fighting them for it.
-
Shane Barbour is a 💩 🎒
-
I still don't understand why anyone would pay this clown...or why show's allow him to set up shop. A simple Google search reveals his history.
For the OP
Was a hunt not provided as paid for..
Was a hunt provided but in his typical backyard of some neighborhood manner..
6k buys some really good Western hunts...but not with this dude.
Id also probably make a complaint with Fish and Wildlife.

Anyone got a picture of this guy?? It would help others to put a name with a face.

He’s not hard to find. sits on the side of 264th staring at elk on private land a lot. Unreal how this guy gets away with this crap still

There's another saying. "RIP, take him to the train station."

Someone needs to take him crabbing

See the links that LDennis posted. It is unreal that this guy is still scamming people, and that these shows are still giving him a space to do so

I can't find any pictures of this guy anywhere. No web page, no facebook page, nothing. Only thing you find about him is the negative reviews......This AMAZES me that anyone would give him money.
I did find two accounts for a Shane Barbour Jr. in the general area he is in. One shows he works as a taxidermist. Is this him??? If so.....he doesn't look like a guy I would give money to for a hunting guide. :chuckle: :chuckle:

on one of those links that LDennis posted if you look around you can find a pic of Burnworth with his bull and a dark hair dude. Assume that's him. Baffles me how people give others a lot of loot without doing some homework. I'm not real good with confusers but I can figure that out

How does the scam even work? If paid electronically or by check you can just ask your bank not to honor it and reverse the transaction. If people are paying cash for something before they receive it..... its an expensive way to learn a lesson but some of the responsibility sits on the victims to not be duped so easily.

I believe he uses Venmo which instantly transfers funds. There is no recourse once the transfer is made.

If you read Ldennis link Shane auctioned off a “hunt of a lifetime “ on his Facebook page then after the winner “won” the auction he said bring a buddy at the same price. Doubled his money! Scammer big time

Venmo absolutely allows you to dispute transactions and will reverse transactions with evidence that no goods or services was received.

I read the post. This dude is scum no doubt about it, but being a bad guide and overcharging / deceiving people is not the same as taking the money and running. I’d never willingly associate myself with somebody like that, but so far nobody has pointed to a crime.
-
yeah Burnsworth hunts with him and with Jarrod from Okanogan guide service who's also known for hunting others land and dumping giant piles of apples . good to stay away from any one in that bunch .

Purposely deceiving people is exactly like taking somebodys money and running. Maybe not legally speaking, but morally it still makes you scamming garbage. Selling somebody a fully guided hunt on thousands of acres and then parking them on your buddy's 20 acre piece next to his broken down cars to fend for themselves is as good as stealing.
Its a bummer that Burnworth continues to give this guy a platform, I'm sure plenty of people have booked with him based on that alone.

Sounds like fraud to me
-
Well, I guess he hasn't scammed the wrong person yet since he's still doing it...
