Here's a Whitetail deer from a few years ago...I think it was somewhere in the '97-'99 range, but would need to find the hard pictures to give a specific date. It was shot outside of Pullman in the Almota Unit 142. I've been hunting the same area since 1989, so that's just about 20 years.
A quick story on this one....I was hunting with my Dad and one of my brothers. We made a pact that we wouldn't shoot anything deep in the canyons unless it was something to brag about. Well, after a morning of kicking out does, I saw this guy across a canyon down from me at about 300 yards. I was on a fence line so I was able to get a good view. He was pushing does in mid November. I put him down in one shot. My brother was first on the scene and dragged him to the bottom of the canyon. I called him on the radio to ask him how big....he said Big and that was that.....I knew I had a wall hanger once I got to him. It's over 19inches wide and has a ton of character. If he would have grown symmetrical, he would have been around 24 inches wide. Not to bad for a Snake River breaks WT.
I'll post another story from this past year - 2008. It was one for the record books. It took a small army to get it out. Well over 300pounds on the hoof.
