Hello everyone,
Just moved to western Washington (Kitsap County) on military orders. This is the first time I've been in the PNW. This land is absolutely incredible and very challenging for a newcomer like myself. My background is in western high desert Mule deer hunting and upland game bird hunting (Quail/Chukar/Dove) and Southeast Whitetail/Small Game & Hog hunting. I would like to exchange any information about archery hunting Columbia blacktail and Bears or even find someone to hunt with on the western side as this is all new territory for me. I'm happy to share knowledge. Happy to be here, feel free to message me any questions about High desert hunting.
V/R,
Carwash

Welcome to the area, grew up in Silverdale. Worked for the Navy for a while as a civilian, thanks for your service. Blacktail are fun, lots of options out there. But, they are pretty similar to WT in some aspects. Can be incredibly difficult to hunt, it’s not uncommon to go days without seeing any. Archery can be even more difficult, but the WT tactics are good. If you’re looking for a buck, archery hunt the modern season is my recommendation. A few good books, in some ways dated now. But, Boyd Iverson has two. I’ll give you a copy if you want, they are not cheap and out of print.

Welcome Carwash! You probably hear it all the time, but not enough. Thank you for your service.
I can’t help you much about the westside, either in living or in hunting, but I do wish you luck!

Welcome, as many have said thanks for your service. There are some guys & gals form Kitsap who meet up for info sharing and beer. One member that may be able to help is @silverdalesauer.

You have some prime Blacktail hunting in your neck of the woods. You shouldn't have to travel far to find great Blacktail. Welcome to forum

Remember not laugh at the first trophy blacktail you see. These westside guys get all butt hurt when you compare them to ….. :chuckle:
