This was my first buffalo hunt. What an amazing animal and they don’t taste half bad. Nothing is easy when dealing with one of these beast.
-
Congratulations, I would like to hear more detail about how it went down... whats the story?
-
Congratulations.
I see that you shot it with a single lever action.

Some of the best met on the planet IMHO

Great pic and love that rifle! I too would be interested in your hunt experience. I've been debating a buffalo hunt as my next guided hunt. I'm doing very poorly finding animals on my own here in WA.

The hunt was spot and stalk. This particular bull cost $2500, a friend and I went in half ($1250) each, I got to shoot and I got the head. Next time it’s my buddies turn. This was a cool experience. Hunt was on a reservation in north central Montana.
Shoulder mount and euro mount currently in progress.

These animals are tough and can take some lead.

Thanks, I'll clean it

That's pretty cool, how much meat?
-
For quality meat, I wouldn’t shoot one over 4 years old.

Having shoulder and euro mount done

How do you do a shoulder and Euro mount? You only have one set of horns from the animal. Do you get some reproductions made for the Shoulder mount? Really cool Buffalo! I bet its great eating too!!!
-
Yes replicas on the shoulder mount. The meat is fantastic. My family loves it
-
Awesome. I’d love to do that, one day

Bearpaw has some great bison hunts
-
Did you butcher it? $2500 seems pretty darn cheap honestly. I spend more than that on gas deer hunting in a season 😂

That’s really reasonable.

What did it weigh hanging on the hook?
-
Was $2,500 the all in cost? I haven't looked at that one, but other ones add extra fees. Looks like a cool experience and I'm unlikely to get to hunt one on a normal tag. Not much cooler than a bison skull on the wall in my book.

Mine was $2,500 (yearling) plus $409 to butcher it (I looked up the amount) no extra fees.
This was through Bearpaw Outfitters 16 months ago.
