Anything else helpful: example, lights or glowsticks in your car for night time digs, a bucket to put clams in, etc.
Backstory: We were in Seabrook for turkey day and decided to give razor clamming a try. I had done research on here and was able to find the best clam gun, recipes, etc. We got lucky with great weather. We made a few mistakes (you don't know what you don't know). The first being clam bags. I ordered some generic ones off amazon that proved to be way too big, especially for my kids. There's would drag in the sand and make it difficult not to step on, luckily I got different colors so I strapped them all on myself. So now I have to see what gets recommended here and buy some more clam bags. I also chuckled when I saw vehicles parked with flashing lights in them. However after a few hours of clamming in the dark, I can see how that would come in real handy. Luckily both nights I parked near people that were camping and had fires going so I had a reference point, but I can see how it would be easy to lose your vehicle out there. I will say the clam gun does make a difference. I would rather buy once, cry once. My parents were giving me crap about spending so much on a clam gun and bought the $70 ones from Ace Hardware in Ocean Shores. After watching their 11 year old granddaughter pull out a limit while they struggled to each get one, they went shopping the next day!

By doing this I make them show. I have shown countless people how to do this and even help people get limits when we are done and yet I never see anyone doing the same.

Waders-I use neoprene in the winter.
Cheap clam net and belt.
For night digs I use a headlamp, and the wife will bring the Milwaukie floodlight to really brighten things up.
If I drive my truck out there in the dark, I have a flashing red-light to put on the dash so I can find it when done.
If any member that has never clammed wants to go, I would be happy to take them out and show them the clam program. The only caveat is you would have to keep mine once we got off the beach since I am always overloaded with them.

I keep it simple, just waders, a clam shovel and a net attached to my belt. Maybe a head lamp if I'm out there in the dark (pretty uncommon for me, in the winter I usually just dig on days when there's enough daylight to hit the tide before dark)
Basically my setup but I bring a clam gun and a couple vitamin Rs. I tend to skip digs that are bad weather and a latern and headlamp cover the night digs.

For clothing I wear neoprene chest waders, thin wool socks, a thermal longjohn type shirt with the sleeves cut off like a muscle shirt or the same with an old under Armour sweatshirt and a stocking cap. Waterproof boonie of it raining too hard. Trust me on the no sleeves it’s way better than wet sleeves.
I prefer a shovel with a longer blade (hard to find these days) and an extra long handle so I can “thump” for them without constantly stooping. For my net I just buy at the local hardware store, no idea the brand but as you’ve noticed too long is no good. I use a cheap nylon web belt with the two metal loops so it’s easy to tighten or remove with cold fingers. Extra long to accommodate various layers when needed.
As for light, in my opinion you can’t beat a lantern. Headlamps will work too, but a lantern cast a wider milder light. With headlamps everyone seems to look at you and blind you for the next 5 minutes. My favorite way to manage the lantern is two diggers per latern and trade off as you go.
