anyone ever do this or know of some llama rentals close to 19 or a good outfitter drop camp in 19? we usually elk hunt the panhandle but decided to switch it up this year and got selway A tags. ideally we’d find an outfitter that could just provide pack services in and out but i’m only seeing drop camps advertised, and the online llama rentals i’m finding are 6 hrs away… thanks for any help, we’re stoked primarily for the adventure and realize the elk decline/wolf situation/steep terrain in the unit.

I've had outfitters pack our own camp in and out before. I think you should give them a call, tell them what you have in mind and see how they respond.

I rented llamas about 20 years ago before I bought my own. I would pick them up from a guy named Wes Holmquist. We'd pick them up around Twin Falls. He would be getting up there age wise but if he's still around he'd know who might have some. Sorry I can't give you more info than that. Have fun!

Call Silver Spurs Outfitters out of Dixie. He is the permitted outfitter for that unit. He has really nice camps in there.

thanks for the ideas/leads. rick with silver spur outfitters has a lot of negative online reviews. we’re most likely gonna rent some llamas and shoot for an adventure in beautiful country, hopefully see some elk (and bring some predator tags).
anyone ever use Wind River Outfitters (they might be our second choice if the llamas don’t pan out)?

That tag is always the easiest to draw because your success rate is low. Rick’s a good guy, but that area is low on game and high on wolves. His drop camps are well hunted but you have a chance. Gotta get off the road but its tough to do. Bring a 1000 yard rifle. Fun area. Gospel Hump has ton of wolves. I’ve seen guys get skunked after 10 days in there. Take a SXS down into it then hike would be fun.
