Title: Stolen trailer and Polaris 570
Post by: TrkyBob53 on December 16, 2024, 12:08:08 PM
My trailer with the Ranger in it were stolen from our property the night of December or early morning of December 7th.  The trailer is a 2022 6'X12' aluminum trailer with a drop ramp.  It has utility box on the front and a spare tire on the side.  The ranger is a 2014 570 midsize, green in color.  It should be easily identified by the custom glass windshield I had built for it. It has a 2' led light on top and soft doors.  This was taken from a gated community in Spokane Valley.  These thieves came prepared.  How they got in is a mystery, but they cut the lock off the trailer.  I had an air tag in it and throughout saturday morning was giving updates to law enforcement as to where it was located.  Unfortunately it was lagging in the update so LEO's were not able to get to the location in time.  The last location was in the Chatteroy area in the 28000 block of the Newport Hwy.  The thieves located the air tag and tossed it out at this location.  Pretty sure we will never see the SXS or trailer again.

Trailer plate # 82372AH  This is a permanent plate.
Ranger plate #X056378

It really stinks to hear of yet another instance of someone's trailer/equipment/ORV's being stolen.  Often people suggest using airtags as a solution to these situations, but you had one and they still got away.  That's concerning.

I wonder if they had some sort of scanning device to locate it and throw it out? or did they just happen to do a visual search and find it?

Apple devices tell you when there is an air tag close to you.

Thieves suck...

Air tags can be tracked with most any I phone.
They even have an audible locator option.
Not hard to find them

Stand alone gps tracking is still the best option.

One time pulling into the hotel in Eureka, there was a LEO conversing with a guy with a dolled up SxS on a flatbed trailer, one trailer tire shredded.  I could tell by the nature of the event the guy wasn't in trouble.  When the LEO left, I asked what that was all about.

Well, the parking lot couldn't fit the van/trailer combo, so he parked on the street to spend the night at the hotel.  Some meth head found the hideakey, and stole the combo.  Trailer got a flat and he unloaded the SxS (not sure where) and dumped the trailer.  When the cops found him, he was kicking it in the van, drinking the guy's beer.   Said "that trailer was pissing me off".  No shame at all.

All recovered within 24 hours.

Sorry to hear about this. It's unfortunate that crooks find a way of getting around a guy trying to protect his property.
