Title: TSS loads
Post by: jasnt on February 19, 2025, 10:42:14 AM
First test loads of super 18 tungsten coming off the Ponsness Warren 375.
Fiocchi 2 3/4”  1oz #7.5’s.

For those of you that run tungsten, what constriction are you using? barrel length?

Great looking reloads, P&W 375's (I have 4) always do a good job. TSS can be an odd creature when it comes to chokes depends on the gun. Some like Full some like MOD @ASHQUACK likes Light MOD one guy I know thinks his IC has the best pattern.

thank you.  Yes the pw does make nice loads.  I thought I had my mec dialed in but this thing has way better crimps.

I’m happy enough with the pattern I’m getting with the ef but I love to tinker

Im new to the TSS hand reload game but everything I have heard is the more open the choke the better pattern.  Now that being said the first time I shot a duplex 20 ga TSS load I had a carlsen "Long Range" choke in and I couldnt miss.  i have no idea what that choke looked like on paper.

My 30" barrel Beretta with the factory Optima HP modified choke will pattern well to 60 yds. And thats shooting a stacked load with only 1/2 oz. of #7.5 TSS. Another 1/2 oz of TSS would easily push it to 75 yds.

The Carlson Cremator lr is my best pattern at 40yards, but the mid range was amazing at  25

Photo is LR at 40, I quit counting at 127 pellets in that group

I have purchased numerous Carlson TSS chokes in 12 and 20 gauge, I don't know what their constriction is, but they work excellent. You could google them up to check the diameter.
