Title: New property cams checked
Post by: finnman on May 11, 2025, 04:02:52 PM: I was finally able to pull my cards from my cameras on the property in Okanogan Co.
I let them soak since July last year. I bought two new cameras they were GardePro's and I have to say for $55 they out preformed my expectations. The battery life was still at 4 out of 5 after 9 months. lots of pics and not very many of just bushes or trees moving. Most are triggered by small animals like, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, skunks, coyotes, bobcats, and then the bigger game were, Whitetails, Mule deer, one bull elk, and a cow moose. I did not get one photo of a cougar, black bear, or wolf. That is a plus I guess. I got one series of a bobcat walking by with a squirrel in his mouth. Also a set of WT bucks tracking does in heat and sniffing the air. Around the week of November 14-20th.
All told it seems I got about 12-14 different bucks. Mostly WT. The larger muleys showed up late with no antlers. Just white roman nosed bucks with scabs on their heads. Probably passing down from up high. :dunno:
It was a lot of fun and I ordered 3 more cameras to set up in June when we return. :tup:

Post by: greenhead_killer on May 11, 2025, 05:24:51 PM: Quite the variety! Pretty cool. As far as the big predators go, we seem to get far more bears than anything else up there. About once a year a cat comes through, but the bears are heavy. Enjoy the new place! How was getting in? We made our first trip about 5 weeks ago and it was a bit of a rodeo. Will be back up next week, I’m assuming everything is cleared out by now.

Post by: finnman on May 11, 2025, 05:36:33 PM: One of my neighbors has 40 acres, he got 6 different bears on camera last year. They ended up tearing up his cabin water tank in August.
The drive in was great last weekend. The camera showed most of the snow was gone in mid April. That camera is at 4,040 feet elevation.
We will be back in late June for more work and more cameras...

I only had time this go around to pull the two SD cards from the nearest cameras on my property. The other 6 will have to wait.
What is your thoughts on these guys? Wolves or????

Here is a coyote on the other camera.....and a couple of the local bucks....
I also picked up a bull and a few cows and two black bears...

Post by: finnman on August 05, 2025, 06:42:16 PM: We cleaned the place up. Added 170 yards of crushed rock, took out around 80 trees, made the approach into the site wider and straighter. Multiple turn-around areas for trailers and such. Added a lean to cover for the sxs and rock steps to the toilet. Making some progress toward a cabin.

Talking with locals, the state has been dropping problem wolves at Bonaparte but won’t label them as a pack since there isn’t a breeding alpha pair. Pretty stupid, but what do we expect from the state. Nice pics on the rest. Looks like you’re making some killer progress!

I did get a herd of 4 muleys together on camera. That was a good sign. :tup:

I was able to pull my SD cards on all 6 cameras. I love it when you get home and look them over and go “where the heck are these bucks at?” We never saw one buck. I am starting to hate WT! Lol.
Enjoy the party……if you’re not a 5x5…..don’t bother showing up!

If you don't run into them in the early season,I'd try some rattling.

Also we never found a dead deer or birds on any carcasses…..

Post by: finnman on October 20, 2025, 11:36:13 AM: Thanks for the comment. The batteries are Amazon AA. I buy them by the 100. Super cheap and believe it or not, the batteries still have juice through the winter and into next spring.
I am not sure if that’s the camera or the battery? But I am super happy with both.
When I checked the cameras from my last pull which was July, the battery life was full or 3 bars. So a safe run is about 1 year on 8 batteries….
