Anyone kniw of any reputable guides in the area or leases
-
I’m not sure if bearpaw, the owner of the site has any land that far south but may be worth reaching out. My wife got a decent 4x4 with the tag last year but it wasn’t easy. Good luck

Just looking to add more land worse case scenario as Ill have my 5 year old with me first hunt want to keep her intrigued

I drew the same tag. Looks like lots of areas with the challenge of finding access.
Good luck or PM if you want to connect. I'll be coming from the opposite side of the state so wouldn't mind knowing a few folks closer in case of issues. Otherwise, happy hunting with the kid in tow!

no need for a guide or lease just knock on doors pm me and I’ll get you some decent access

Very cool BluMt. !!
-
I'll be over there as well with my daughter and my wife.
-
My brother and I have tags so we will be around. Probably have my 4 year old in tow as well. Feel free to PM
-
I'll be turning my tag back in. Hope you folks have a good hunt over there!

No need to lease, and please don't start that practice. There's still landowners around there that'll say yes to door knockers and it'd be nice to keep it that way.

Good to know and thanks for the cautionary tale. I'm certainly planning to do a good bit of that so nice to hear some are amiable.

Cool, i hope you get a big one. I will say, a few years ago the herd got decimated by blue tongue so i won't be surprised if a lot of landowners do say no. Not because they don't like hunting, but they're used to seeing lots of deer so they may just be allowing family members to hunt. So you may get more no's than normal but with some persistence i'm sure you can get permission. It's just been a little tougher than normal.

I'm heading over Thurs-Sun for a long weekend scouting trip with my ol' man and youngest boy. If any locals are interested in meeting up shoot me a PM and I'll respond as able. We'll be staying at Liberty Lake CG, swimming and fishing when not out beating the brush or glassing.

You guys get anything or seeing anything? It's been bleak where i've been at.

Just got back from Colfax area for three days trying to fill this tag. Things are really bleak. saw two whitetails the entire time. both bucks on private land I didnt have access to. No does. Nothing before or after shooting light. Farmers are saying they got hit really hard this year by BT and I believe it. I was glassing up piles of bones in the creek bottoms. Based on the sign I was seeing the deer that are left are very nocturnal right now. Not saying there weren't WTs around, but they were not showing themselves. The pheasants had a bumper crop this year tho.

Had the same experience, didn't get to hunt as much as I wanted, but I didn't see a WT.

I might just stow the rifle and pull out the shotgun from here on haha.

That tracks with what I saw in 139 during general season. I shot a mule deer for the first time in 20 years this year.

Low land deer were wiped out. My private piece I have 3 bucks on cam in last 10 days. 2 are 1.5 yr olds and one decent 4. Up high they were not affected. I’ve had 7 different bucks by a cam in last 5 days

Similar. Got over Saturday, saw a small buck that evening and a 2x1 the next day. A few does as well but overall very few and tough hunting. Still an adventure with lots of miles, seeing some.dead ones and a few other critters. Hope the WT bounce back in 3-5 years like after the 2021 hit.
