Title: North Dakota
Post by: hdshot on June 19, 2025, 06:34:24 PM
Looks like mallards and pintail took a disappointed dive downwards in ND this year but overall duck numbers above LTA.

“The mallard population estimate was down 26% from last year and is the lowest estimated mallard breeding population on our survey since 1993,” Szymanski said.”

“pintails also had significant population declines“

Not the best early indication especially when Canada is having a well above average wildfire season so far.

Guarantee the pinners really gonna suffer this fall. Mallards also if the wigeon don't suffer the pinner's fate early mornings

Too bad the article doesn’t describe it that way in a way.

Then too good we shouldn't give up due to same articles.

The article is about the ND survey which is taken very seriously like many others.  Midwest earl teal seasons this year have almost been halved because of the research these surveys provide.

Rough life in North Dakota. Teal season halved. Suppose they'll gotta shoot truckloads of pheasant instead

Not a bad trade off.  That’s one sport I miss is pheasants in this area but the public spots have very few to no wild ones for a long time now.
