So stick and string hunters, what is your set up this year? Bow, arrow, BH. If you have a minute, please offer your complete set up…sight, rest, STAB, etc. ;). I’m always interested in what HW members are shooting. ;)

Mach 34, Black Eagle Spartans, D6 Evo’s. Simple but incredibly effective. I’m not a tinkerer/component switcher when it comes to archery, I’ll shoot this setup until I have a good reason not to

Well, seeing as you started the conversation with’Stick and String’ I guess I have to chime in. I use my homemade stick and string created from Indonesian Rosewood and Birdseye Bocote, Glass faced and backed Bocote limbs tapered .002/ inch with .002 unidirectional carbon sandwiched between the belly glass and Bocote. The string is a homemade endless loop 12 strand Rhino material and the arrow rest is a piece of toothbrush. Arrows are tapered spruce footed with ebony, 125 grain homemade broadheads cut from saw blades total arrow weight 535 grains +-5 grains.

Thats a beautiful bow! I'd love to make my own bow.
I've been hunting with a #55 Old Mountain Mesa longbow with Douglas fir shafts and Zwickey Eskimos. Total arrow weight is right about 600 grains.
-
Elite Synergy bow, Spot Hogg MRT 7 pin sight, Hamskea Trinity hunter rest, limb saver stabilizer. Shooting Carbon Express Maxima red 350 arrows and 125gr Slick Trick magnums.
-
Mathews Lift X 33, with integrated SH boonie triple stack, hamskea Epsilon, and integrated 2 piece quiver and bars. Pretty familiar setup for me bow wise. Changing the arrow up a bit with the Easton 5.0 fletched with 3 Alpha vanes. Broadhead will likely remain the same as last season combination of Jekyll and Hyde 125s from Evolution.

Mathews Lift X 29.5 set at 70#, B3 Linx single pin sight, QAD MX2 integrate drop down, 2 piece integrated quiver, 12" spider front Stab, 8" spider rear stab, evolution outdoors shadow release, and Victory HLR arrows with 60gr outsert with 20gr weight (possibly 50gr), AAE pro hunter vanes, and Evolution outdoors hyde broadheads. I will also carry 1-2 Jekyll broadheads in my quiver incase I need to make a brush shot. This arrow will be specifically for elk. I will build something a bit lighter for mule deer.
-
Mathews Halon set at 70#, Spott Hogg 5 pin sight and I still like a whisker biscuit for the ease and reliability. Just had arrows shortened a bit and inserts added for more weight and improving FOC, have 125 grain tips and an insert, at 464 grains overall arrow weight and 13.5% FOC.
Last year I shot a bull with GrizzlyStick single bevel 125 grains overall arrow broadheads. Penetration was good but blood trail was abysmal to non-existent. Recovered the bull and it didn’t run far, but I want more blood so I’m looking at something with more cutting edge this year. Thoughts from this group? Looking at iron will single bevel but with bleeders.
