Say your AWD vehicle is stuck in the mud or snow or gravel … what is the best way to get out without breaking out the shovel or traction boards?
Traction control = ON or OFF?
Which drive mode?
Normal
Rain/snow
Mud/Ruts
Tow/Haul
Eco
Sport
X Mode
Etc. ...
Any tricks that you'd like to share?

XMode on my Subaru was a beast.....Actually used it to tow out 2 full size 4x4's in Montana couple years ago.

Traction control off so the wheels spin and grab a bit.
I pulled 2 awd vehicles off the beach yesterday that had the traction control on and the wheels just wouldn’t spin. I also put it in sport mode when on the beach.
My winch has been getting a work out lately with super soft sand at the beach.

My wife's Subaru has X-Mode. It's no joke.

Looks like Ford’s Mud/Ruts mode is equivalent to Subaru’s X-Mode, or at least similar.

that was at Ocean Shores. I have noticed the Tesla cars seem to always get stuck. I assume it’s due to the weight of them.

Sand is quite an obstacle once you get off the hardpack. Add in little ground clearance and you're dragging belly quickly.

They are really low to the ground too, you need a low profile jack to get under them. On the plus side the bottom is flat so they should drag out easier.

The sand gets everybody sooner or later.
