Successful deer hunters will be required to get their animals tested for the always-fatal brain disease. The agency is also barring elk and deer hunters from hauling carcasses out of that area, instead requiring them to bone out the meat from the animals and leave behind the rest of the carcass.

Anybody see the new release from Fish and Wildlife about testing for CWD? In it they remind hunters that all deer taken in any 100 series unit must be tested for CWD. Then they go on to say it takes 4-6 weeks to get test results. Then they say " Ideally, hunters are advised to wait for a negative test result before processing meat if possible." Anyone see a problem with this?
Basically you just freeze all your meat and wait 4 weeks.
It's definitely a pain.
Despite what they say,you have to process.
You just have to wait for results if you don't want to eat CWD positive meat.

Exactly. They are saying don't process until negative test result, but also saying it takes 4 to 6 weeks for a test result.
I'm wondering if any butcher shops are going to want to process meat if it hasn't been cleared? This isn't a very practical solution.

This was on the local news yesterday.
Greg Weaver from Crown Foods in Spokane, a meat processing business, explained how these diseases are impacting their operations. Hunters can drop off game to be processed at Crown Foods, where the meat is butchered and packed.
"It's kind of a gamble. We've had years past where we've had the cooler completely stacked with deer. That could happen. Probably won't," Weaver said.
Due to new laws aimed at stopping the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease, Crown Foods cannot return meat to hunters without proof of CWD test results. This process can take four to six weeks, requiring Crown Foods to store the meat until the results are available.
The impact of these diseases is significant, affecting both the hunting community and businesses like Crown Foods. As hunting season progresses, the community is encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

A lot meat shops are gonna turn any game meat away.
Especially if they sell meat,or have a USDA stamp.
Not sure what the places that don't sell meat will do.
For myself ,no worries I cut my meat.
Nobody wants to spend hours, cutting meat.
Then turn around and trash it,after positive result.
Pretty much trash bag it ,freeze and wait.
