Walked up on this guy dead asleep.

Dang! Nice work!

That's amazing....hope you have some cool video of that hunt. That looks to be a very nice / big cat.
-
Did you make a video? looking forward to one-- good kill
-
Holy cow! :o That's a nice looking cat. Is he as big as he looks?
-
Holy smokes, that crazy! Congrats on the kitty!
-
That’s a hell of a cat, not many people see him awake let alone asleep. You know you’re walking through the woods right when you catch one sleeping.

My wife was able to film it with my phone. It’ll be a few weeks before I edit anything.

I don’t know what a big cat is but I’m pretty positive it’s heavier than my wife and makes the one I shot in 2018 look small.

Probably just luck. I am still dumbfounded on how it all went down.

Nice work that’s a beautiful cat. Congratulations saved a bunch of Deer and Elk. You would hear me rejoicing from the top of the mountain.

Dang dude, good job! That’ll probably never happen to you or anyone you know again.

I dont even know if they score cats but I'd be interesting for reference how that cat scores. Incredible specimen. Congrats.

Awesome cat! Curious, how did it all go down? How close were you to him?

Nice one, congrats. Nothing like killing a coug!!!

Great job Dan, that is a nice one!. Going to make a strong effort to get one myself this winter. So many are on game cams in all my areas around the state, we need to do more predator control.

Nice Cat! That thing is a beast of a deer killer. A wife that hunts "quietly" would be awesome!
My wife won't go hunting with me, and I guess that is my fault. On one of our trips to Winthop, I decided to drive her up the 100 road to show her the area I hunt every year. Being in July, the roads were open. At the "Y" I turned back to the left above where Bear Creek Trail comes out. Parked at the fence line and hiked up the ridge line. I showed her what Thunder Brush was, and told her do not step on it, every animal within 500 yards will hear you and be spooked. We got to the top of the bowl, and I decided it would be a great time to try my new bear call. I let out a couple bleats, and immediately go a "woof snap snap snap" of the jaws from the brush about 15 yards below us. My wife asked in a panic "what was that?" I made the mistake of saying "I don't know" instead of saying that is a bear, thinking it would scare her. Next thing I hear is "stomp, stomp, stomp", my wife heading away stomping on every Thunder Brush plant she could heading back to the truck at a high rate of speed. Once back at the vehicle I admitted to her it was a bear. Her face went white.
We have hiked that whole area many times since, but She no longer wants to go hunting :dunno::

I did not. WDFW biologist guessed this cat to be somewhere in the 130-140lb range just by looking at the head and the pictures I showed them.

Walked up on him sleeping below us at 75 yards. The rest will be on video when I get the chance to edit it.

Thanks and thanks to everyone else for all the positive comments. My wife is pretty cool. Hardly ever complains and is super supportive.
