Have never been hunting there. We live a couple hours south of there and really never had to go to far from home. Kids sports schedule is usually tight when rifle season comes along but we still get a day or so for my son to hunt. That is why I muzzleload. My 15 year old son filled his doe tag. He still has his regular tag. We actually have a weekend off and we are going to just take off to a unit open for late buck. Spur of the moment kind of thing, whatever. Going to pack a tent but prepared to stay at a hotel if one is near by wherever we end up, don't matter mom is not with us so we go wherever we feel like. Thought I'd start by republic area and go from there. Not asking for secret spots but a general idea of where to start. We are experienced hunters and looking at areas that are new to us. WE ARE NOT WESTSIDERS!

Are you going late rifle? If so I’d check the regs before making the drive to 101 if its archery disregard my comment. Good luck

I like staying at Tiffany's on Curlew lake, great place to base out of.

Does he bow hunt? 101 is archery only for late buck, opens today.
The late rifle units are 105, 108, 111, 113, 117, 121, and 124.
That might change your plans a bit but lots of public lands to hunt anywhere. Good luck guys!

I was gonna help, but then I read your last four words..... being a westie I guess we aren't supposed to like or help each other. Good luck

Trophyhunt-times 2. Sure was nice of an Arlington guy to tell you where to camp.
Best of luck....

The most viable late season rifle hunting is done West of the Cascades for blacktail. You're not welcome over here though. Go poach a mule deer around Republic. Start by reading the regs.

Jstickel, “WE ARE NOT WESTSIDERS!” Seriously?

Well this blew up. :chuckle:

My Thoughts exactly! Who doesn’t have OnX in 2025 anyways to see all the forest service land you can hunt…

East vs West
Holy smokes this topic went sideways quick.

Perhaps the OP is sitting back just rolling in laughter for playing the forum

I hate to say it......but.
There kinda is a secret club to being on the dry side.
Certain circles with information are always floating around between folks.
Can't blame a guy for trying to tap into that.
Is what it is.
I'm sure the wet side has some secret circles.
You are in the circle of trust,or your not.

for the record, I was not calling you a dick, reread what I posted and it could come off that way.
-
That’s like calling everyone democrats because you live in a blue state. Imagine coasties crying when the other side kills a salmon 😂
-
Go over all the time to hunt turkeys never have any problems with folks on the Eastside. But when I talk about conservation to people we as hunters eat our own that is for sure. Oh and read your regs lol. Even old timers have issue reading WDFW regs. Anyway back to OP. There is a late archery season that opened in 101 Monday and it is whitetail buck only. I stayed at the Winchester RV park. They have nice little small cabins, also full hookup RV spots, a cook shack and nice showers. Was very nice. Met lots of guys there for the Monday opener for whitetail. They are coming out right at the near the end shooting hours. Seen lots of does. Only bucks I saw were mule deer. Good luck.

Born and raised in Republic. We dislike all non local hunters pretty much equally. Doesn't matter if your from Spokane or Seattle.

Please don’t dig our razor clams, catch our crab or harvest our oysters and steamer clams. Not to mention the off the charts upriver brights in August on the lower Columbia! We all live in the same state . I won’t voice my opinion on the state of our state and I don’t think you own any of the wildlife!

Hey Mikey...hush up about the seafood. One of these guys is sporting an Alaskan plate. And I suspect the others are not all local. Your about to get booted from the club. Have a great night everyone. :)

Seafood is super gay compared to big game.

This is a smart ass comment but true, one of my grandfathers was born and raised in Republic 1920's-1930's then moved to Spokane, fought in the big war and moved to the west side to be a salmon troller. I started hunting Republic in 1993, but had previously spent summers above Tonasket on my grandfathers (married into) family farm in the early 1970's to mid 1980's as well as hunted a bit there as a kid. My mother in-law lived in Republic from 1992-1998ish. Question, what makes a "local" does having family ties to the area not enough? I understand most live there for a reason and understand why because I would like to live there or SE AK in a small village or town to get away from the masses as well.
Sorry to thread jack but just had questions and wanted to air it out, little tongue in cheek, and actually wondering as well.
Washington born and raised and have fished and hunted just about every corner of it
